There are four separate wings in Nora Springs Care Center. It is very large, very spacious, really nice, and well kept. The grounds are beautiful. The staff was very kind, very accommodating, explaining how everything kind of worked and who did what and where. They offered me something to drink and I had tea, so that was nice. That gave me a chance to visit a little bit longer. The rooms were very nice. They had some doubles, but they're mostly single rooms to give you privacy, and they're very well kept, very clean, and spacious. You don't feel like you're in a cave. I was impressed.

Nora Springs Care Center was very homey, and they've got very efficient but spacious apartments. There was an open kitchen connected to the living area, and a large bedroom with accessible shower. It was very bright and it has its own patio. They offered help with bathing and other things needing assistance. They're very gracious and friendly. They had a community dining room and they had activities that can be done on the assisted living side or on the care center side. They had a van that can take you to your doctors' appointments, and there was a little grassy backyard connected between the assisted living side and the nursing home side.

Nora Springs Care Center has a really good mission statement and they take care of their people pretty well. It's two hours away from my home. It was in a smaller town and smaller atmosphere. My grandpa passed away, but grandma is still there. The have a friendly staff. The administrator bends over backwards to try and help out too. They allowed me to bring a large bed in when grandpa was alive. They offered to paint the room whatever color they wanted. Grandma has a lot of accidents, so they help clean up right away. The staff is very, very good. They don't cross the line between an RN and a CNA, but you can probably find that everywhere. The RNs won't clean up the people, they wait for the CNAs to do it. But they've done enough on their own plates to take care of. They really have good food. I lived there for about a month and half when my dad was in. They set me in and let me had my own room the whole time I was there.
