I am/was a resident of this facility

OK. Retired health care provider. Lived here x 6 months. 1 bedroom apt beautiful, spacious. Many very nice residents.. WiFi goes down frequently. Many activities but lots not well attended. Manager and chef meeting with residents mostly cancelled. I've got a dog and some staff not supportive. Food could be better for adults with medical problems.. too much salt, carbohydrates. A few meals excellent. One resident with Celiac disease not getting her Gluten free diet as promised and per advertising ability to get a Special diet she is now very sick from getting Gluten and management now telling her they can't guarantee the diet nor give $$ back so can get own food. Many staff great but others are challenged with lack of enthusiasm and negativity. Rules change based on a few residents or staff complaints. Overall good price but if have special needs be sure to check out what is really available. Also this is not assisted living.. is independent living and residents need to be able to care for themselves including going to diningbroom to eat or pick up meals. There are some excellent staff to make up for others not so much. I plan on staying long term but not afraid to make sure myself and other resident pals are safe and well cared for.. we are over 55 and at 70, I'm one of younger residents. Many in 80s, 90s and even 100s. Many of us have serious medical problems like diabetes, cardiac, kidney and ambulatory and pain. Residents for most part try to be positive and kind to each other. That I really appreciate.. you can attract a lot more bees with honey than vinegar.

I visited this facility

The Discovery Commons At College Park was very nice, and the people were lovely. Some apartments were re-finished and some have not, and I saw both of them. The re-finished ones were very nice, the ones that have not been were dated, they haven't done anything to them. They have a lot of stuff going on there, but I'm not interested in that. They had a courtyard, elevators, and the hallways were well lit. I think it's a great place. I think it's gonna be greater when they get everything new. The new end was very nice. The old end was not as nice, but that's the end I can afford. I was looking at a certain price point and that was only at the older end.

I am/was a resident of this facility

The location is perfect. Apartments are roomy, more than one room, plus lots of closet. Employees are all helpful, friendly, and respectful. Food is excellent, yummy, delicious, healthy; 3 meals daily. Living here for over two years, I love this as my new home. Age 90, as of October 2018. Also lots of activities in which to participate (optional of course). Perfect senior type of exercise classes available several times weekly. This is an excellent place in which to live. Car and bus available, with an excellent licensed driver; for instance, once a week to various stores. I love living here.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I am fortunate and pleased with them. The staff members are all polite, respectful and sensitive to the needs of seniors. They know us by name and it feels like family. The location is ideal, near hospital, doctors, supermarkets, and restaurants. Another reason I chose it is the large storage available, garage, and full kitchen. There are certain things that this place has that no other place I looked at has. It has excellent two walk-in closets plus wall-to-wall bedroom closets. It also has storage in the basement if you need it. It has garages, too. Those are all very important to me. The staff is also wonderful. I love the setting, too. It is only about a mile from where I used to live, so I'm very familiar with the area.
