"I liked the apartments at Brookstone Estates of Mattoon South. They were very nice. Most of them had patios, so that was a nice feature. The lady was very kind and thorough with the tour. The facility was very clean and the upkeep was great. They showed me the kitchen, the laundry, and an outdoor patio-type thing, which was like a gathering place. Their menu looks sufficient and good."

"My mom was at The Glenwood Supportive Living of Mt. Zion for a while, and now she is back home. It was a very nice place. All the residents were very nice and welcoming. The staff was very accommodating. She had a respite room. It was furnished and ready to go, so that's what we used. The food was very good. They had activities. They had church on Sunday, a stretch and flex every morning, and different rooms where the residents could gather and do puzzles or crafts."

"I had my wife at Heartland Christian Village for a while. The staff was above average, and there was a high level of conscientious behavior on the part of the administrator and the senior nurses that I had a chance to be exposed with. They had a few private apartments if you didn't require full-time nursing care and wanted to be able to utilize the centralized eating facilities. If you needed to, you could migrate from the apartment into the nursing home at some later date. She had Alzheimer's, and they did not really have the facilities to be able to cope with Alzheimer's patients in the evenings. It did not have the staff or the manpower to cope with them outside of the time shift. However, you could come in on daycare. You just couldn't have somebody there on a full-time evening basis. They seemed to have a wide variety of spaces available -- private rooms, double rooms -- and they have a Medicaid room as high as four to eight people in them, which was a warehousing-type of environment and not very tasteful. From the standpoint of recreational facilities, they had regular games, activities, walks, and painting classes. They had a nice indoor courtyard that you could go and sit in and watch the birds or butterflies. "

"The Gardens at Moweaqua was nice and clean. I liked it. It seemed like a good community. The lady that gave me the tour was very nice and answered all my questions. It was a really good experience. The rooms were nice and really big. Surprisingly, they're bigger than I thought they would be. It's a nice layout. I think my dad will be happy there. They got bingo, a living area, and a dining room. It's just a nice place altogether. There's somebody there 24 hours a day. The only problem my dad has is he falls a lot and he can't get back up. If they will go by and check on him now and then, it'll be a good deal. The staff told me they got plans to renovate some of the rooms, so they're investing back in their facility. The cost of The Gardens is a little bit better than some of the other places that I went to. It works for my dad's budget."

"My parents were previous residents at Randall Residence. This community is clean, friendly and everyone who lives there is very well taken care of. The staff genuinely cares for them, and their families. The nursing staff are kind, empathetic and genuine and give the best care. We lost my parents, but the fact that they allowed Hospice and that they could stay at Randall until the end gave the entire family comfort and peace. Do not look any further if you are looking for a place for your parents, or loved ones. You will not find one better than Randall Residence. "

"I'm moving into Primrose Retirement Community of Decatur. I've got my own villa, a two-bedroom, two-bath, and it was big. I wanted that more than I did an apartment. I was thoroughly impressed. The staff was wonderful, friendly, and nice, and they made me feel welcome. I'm impressed with the food. I've eaten over there quite a few times, and the food is delicious."

"This community is clean and workers are friendly. The community is well laid out with ample parking and even small yards. The designs inside the community building are clean and inviting. The hallways are wonderfully decorated with flowers and there is ample space to move around with walkers or wheelchairs. When there are any problems that arise the staff takes care of it quickly and efficiently. Overall a very friendly and welcoming environment for elderly with many accommodations for their various needs. "
