I am/was a resident of this facility

I have lived at The Health Center of Coconut Creek for about four or five weeks now. There are a lot of people who are very good and nice, but you're always going to get one or two who are a pain in the neck. On the majority, they are very friendly, and the gym is very good. The food is good and we have three full meals a day. They give you plenty to eat and there's quite a variety. They give each patient a list of dinners for the whole week and you pick out which ones you want and they turn them in. The rooms are very clean and the bathrooms are very well taken care of. It's a very clean, neat place. They have shows, card games, and Bingo. I have physical therapy with Jennifer and she's great. Each room has television.

My mother-in-law stayed in this facility. She wound up with a concussion and a fracture pelvis. It seems that an aide helped her to the toilet and left her there alone for over an hour. Next thing she was on the floor of the toilet unconscious. She was taken to North West Hospital. THC has never showed any care and consideration to her as a patient. It has been a year, she is in pain and memory loss is worse. They are a shady organization who mistreat the elderly and then evade suits through game playing.

Worst place ever.My mom came to THC after her stay at the hospital. The nursing staff doesn't care one bit. If you ask a question they put you off to someone else or say I just got here I know nothing. Great answers for the family to get. My mom was in need of serious medical attention but it wasn't until I left my job and demanded they call an ambulance did they get off there butt and do something. think twice before sending a family member here. I wouldn't let my pets go there.

My mother recently passed away after spending the last 13 years of her life at THC. The staff was very caring and always took very good care of my mother. The administration was always helpful and after 13 years, became somewhat of a family to us. The staff treated my mother like she was their own.

Physical care was ok. Staff was ok.Doctor or doctors on call HORRIBLE.If your parent needs physical therapy ONLY its fine but if your parent has a cold it will turn to a flu etc etc My mother left that place sicker than when she arrived.I couldn"t get them to fix the call button for 3 days. If you have to use this place,I suggest keeping a constant watch on your parent.Doctor couldn't cure a cough.

I cannot recommend this facility, The Health Center of Coconut Creek, to anyone looking for a safe, healthy place for their loved one because of my personal experience. The facts are that my mother got two serious bacterial diseases there despite going there only for physical therapy before returning to her home. She was transferred from the hospital to THC to regain some strength and balance and was ready to be released after one week there since she was walking on her own, throwing a ball, etc. However, she contracted pneumonia and C Difficile, Clostridium Difficile, a life-threatening bacterial infection of the colon while at THC. The nurse on the night she became so ill had a thermometer that was not calibrated correctly, and only after my brother, who is a medical professional, showed her the correct temperature on his mercury thermometer did she get a different thermometer and realize that my mother’s body temperature was close to 103 degrees, not 101 as her thermometer was reading. That’s a critical difference. Instead of moving my mother to a hospital, the doctor decided to treat her at THC. She did receive the correct oral and intravenous antibiotics but was not put on the recommended clear liquid diet, and she was discharged after two weeks when her stool culture was negative. No further cultures were done. The biggest problem is that she was discharged by the doctor at THC without any follow-up antibiotics given to her and also without any prescriptions for follow-up oral antibiotics. In addition, she still had diarrhea at THC before she was discharged which is a red flag. When we asked about that, we were told, “It will go away soon.” One week later she was in the hospital again, more ill than before, because the C Diff had not been cured. She never recovered from this second debilitating round of C Diff. When she went into THC, she was healthy, continent, and physically able to take care of herself. She contracted the diseases there that eventually took her life. As stated by the attending doctors at Bethesda West Hospital when she was taken there by ambulance after THC discharged her, she should have been sent to the hospital to be treated when she contracted pneumonia and C Diff at THC. She wasn’t. She also should have been given a course of antibiotics to take at home instead of stopped cold turkey when she was discharged from THC. She wasn’t given them, and this had disastrous, heartbreaking results for her and our family. Beware! Ratings don’t tell the entire story, but personal experiences from patients’ loved ones do.

Décor is quite nice, like a hotel. Therapy staff is outstanding - extremely knowledgeable and hard working. That is where anything good about this place ends. Nursing staff is very unprofessional and, with a few exceptions, their actions indicate that they have no care for their jobs or the patients. Facility case managers are poorly informed regarding facility procedures and have no compassion for their clients. Do not leave a family member here unless they have a close family, or friend, to stay on top of how they are being treated.

My mother stayed at The Health Center of Coconut Creek for a couple of months. It was quite nice. They were helpful. They did what they needed to do. I really didn't have anything negative to say about this facility. It seemed to be a very nice place. They had very nice staff. The therapy people were very nice. The rooms were very nice. The dining room was nice as well. I had dinner with my mother there and the food looked very good to me.

It's unforntunate that a person with a joint replacement has to get put into the mix of nursing home patients. But with the recommendation of the physical therapy staff and physicians my father agreed to go. As his daughter, I did my research on centers and visited a lot of them. Most we're despicable. I was impressed with THC on my visit there. So my father was admitted for rehab. I have nothing but good things to say about the physical therapy department. They were excellent. The nursing care is a different story. Working in the healthcare field, the care was below standard. Response to call lights was slow, meds were either late or missed and there was no rounding by nursing management. The dignity of these patients are lost.

THC is a caring, clean and concerned facility that has provided care to my relative for the past two months. I have nothing but good words to say of the friendly staff, decent food and clean facility. i recommend it.

THC refused admission to my 92yr old mom who had recently broken her shoulder & fractured her hip, due to "negative family dealings" on a previous stay within the facility: OMG!! How revolting! My mom, regardless of the family negative feelings with the facility, who, by the way, was only acting as a "true patient advocate" to rectify several negatives in patient care delivery--was, nevertheless, comforatble in these "familiar" surroundings..Isn't the PATIENT the bottom line?? The administration here is a DISGRACE
