Continuing Care Retirement Communities Communities in Oak Creek, WI

"We looked at Tudor Oaks Senior Living Community. I liked the grounds. I like the additional things that you do there like the hobby rooms and that type of stuff. But what I didn't like, and the reason I had to discount it, was a huge upfront payment. It's a very nice facility, but very expensive, not the monthly budget, but the initial deposit. They had a woodworking room. They had a lot of things to do there. The grounds are very large so you can pretty much walk where you want to go. But the problem is that deposit. It's non-refundable and that bothered me. I have a lot of funds, but I don't think I want to put it all there. The size and the floorplan of the apartments were good. I found nothing else wrong with that. The staff who gave the tour was fine. She was nice. The facility was good. It's an older building, but it was very well-kept. They're very good. They also have a large storage room, and that was nice."

"Village at Manor Park has everything, they're a continuum community and they have everything. We toured independent living, we toured their long-term healthcare, but we didn't tour their memory unit. They also have rehabilitation. The Aurora Health Care has a community clinic on their campus. It's a very large community, and we have been trying to get accepted there because it's certainly at the top of our list. And they will accommodated you. For instance, if they don't have the room you want they will put you someplace when you're ready to move, at least until a room opens up. What stood out to me was that the person we spoke to sat down and asked what we wanted, and we just dropped by there unannounced a couple weeks ago. The people we've engaged in the halls seemed to be very happy to be there. This is the place where the amenities excel every other place we've been to. They have literally a catalog, and they have a program for people of the community. They might take you by bus to the outskirts of Chicago to a play, they might take you to Madison, or other places. These are all the commercial buses, it's not cheap (it's $80 a person per trip), but that would include a meal. We have seen nothing that matches that in terms of what they offer. Also, their location is a few miles away from the Medical College, Froedtert Health Center, West Allis Memorial Hospital, and St Luke's, which is an internationally-known cardiac hospital. So the location is excellent, and they're in a residential neighborhood. The building is aged, and it varies. One of the unusual things is that they're connecting their newest routing with another independent residence that they have abridged over the drive. It's actually a very large and pleasant space that takes you over, and they have ground parking. The rates there are unbelievably low, and include ten meals a month, for a rate of $2,200. And the apartment they made arrangements for us to see was very adequate. All of their buildings are connected either by a bridge or by tunnels. They have a fitness program, a bistro, and a formal dining room, and their chef has been there 15 years."

"It was comfortable. It has a nursing care component. It was larger with higher storage. It appealed to the community with art exhibits and they had performers who came in for the residents. They also had field trips and the staff was wonderful. I would recommend them to others. "

"I have been a private caregiver of a resident in Senior Independent Living at San Camillo. Prior to this I worked as an EMT for an ambulance service for Milwaukee Waukesha & SE Wisconsin. I have had the opportunities, to work within almost every facility, in these above listed areas between both jobs. I love San Camillus Community ! Everyone is friendly, kind, & neighborly. I have experienced places that have a religious background " hold themselves" in a higher accountability to those they serve. There are many assorted activities available here to continue "community" actively with each other. This attributes to being social, and creates new friends, physical activity, positive mental health, enriched daily spiritual life. All Residents & employees help Seniors to be involved in life, which helps with loneliness many face, in their golden years. Residents encourage each other to attend meals and all activities, helping everyone to feel wanted, needed and cared about. San Camillus is kept very clean and tidy and quickly takes care of any maintenance needed. They provide many different types of skilled maintenance employees avail to handle any situation. Someone is always available to assist with medical emergencies. Meals are A-1. A large variety of meals including daily soups, assorted fruit and vegetable salads, 2 main entree selections, vegan meals and assorted beverages including "happy hour" drinks. Delishious desserts including sugar free items too ! They are very accommodating to special needs for foods. Staff are very professional and friendly. Anything you may need, they will be able to assist you with, or assist with getting you in contact with the appropriate people. This is a very Positive place to live, work and visit ! I only hear positive comments from residents and their families and workers who make this place, a place to work for years. I continuously recommend San Camillus Community for my own family and friends and acquaintances and am proud to be part of this Community, that is a positive home for our Seniors. I've worked in and visited many facilities, but this Religious based St Camillus Community is welcoming and always attentive to all needs and operates in highly respectable fashion in all aspects ! "I am so happy with the entire staff at Newcastle from administration to caregivers to activity providers. We do not know what we would have done without having a place for mom where she was safe and cared for that was also close enough for us to visit, albeit through a window at first, but now in person. They provide wonderful feedback and answer all our questions. We look forward to being able to spend more time with mom as we transition back to normal. We are happy and relieved to have an option as wonderful as Newcastle for our mom's care. "
