I live in Crestview Ridge Elderly Housing. It's very nice, and in a nice neighborhood. It's in the woods, so it's very quiet and safe. There aren't a lot of people, it's only 35 units, so it's very nice. It's also clean, and they take care of it. It's for ages 62 and over, and it goes by income. I'm in a 1-bedroom apartment with a kitchen and a bathroom. It has a lot of closet space. The meals are not included here. I haven't seen many places that are nicer than this unless you have a lot of money. They don't have staff since it's independent living. If people need help, they come in with their own insurance. We take care of our places, but they have the hallways and the community rooms cleaned once a week. They also take care of the yard and the snow. They shovel off our cars and around them. They have garbage come every week, and recycling. We also get free water and cheap basic cable. They have a senior building right next door, so if people want to get together in the community, they have their own little thing going there. The rent goes by your income, so if you're still working, you pay more than the other people who are on social security or a pension. I probably pay the most because I still work. The less you work, the less you pay. Compared to 1-bedroom apartments anywhere else, it's probably pretty good because we don't have to pay for water, and we get low cable costs. Also, if you were to go out and get a 1-bedroom apartment somewhere else, who knows where you would end up. A lot of neighborhoods and apartments around are crummy, even though they charge you a lot. I also didn't have to pay security up front here, and I won't have to pay anything when I leave. They paint the apartments every six years if you want it done. There are a lot of good points, so for me right now, this is good. When I don't work anymore, my rent will also go down.
