LifeCare Hospice comes in to help with my husband. We have a nurse come in twice a week and people to help bathe him. They are absolutely wonderful. The nurse checks on him and does his vitals, then a nurse aide comes and bathes him twice a week. He is not able to get into the shower anymore, so she gives him a bed bath, shampoo, and shave. We have access to a social worker, dietitian and chaplain service. They are available; all I have to do is call them. They also have respite days at their facility. Five days a month, my husband can go there, so I can have a break from doing his care. They take wonderful care of him. We had him in there last month; he was taken care of very well and was able to get a whirlpool bath, which was very helpful with his condition. It’s all covered by Medicare. If I have doctors' appointments, I call a couple of weeks ahead of time. They actually have a staff of over 200 volunteers, so they will set one up to sit with Bill while I go to my doctor’s appointment.

We were lucky to get in at Hospice & Palliative Care of Greater Wayne County. My dad's doctors told them that he needed the care. Their procedures were really nice. They always let us know what was happening. It was fabulous.

Before my mom passed away, she stayed in Hospice Care of Greater Wayne County. She was there for palliative care to begin with but then it progressed to the point where our family doctor needed to put her into hospice. She said nothing was progressing for her. My mother was 92 at that time and had heart problems. She was in this hospice for two or three weeks. Their staff was very good. They had a minister there that talked with me about the grief process. They were just very good to us and we didn't have any problems with them.
