I've entered quite a few hospice houses and I have to say, Gordon is the cleanest and loveliest by far. The staff is attentive and caring and listen to the patients and families. Nothing we asked for was denied. There is a pull out bed and a chair that lays out so you can be close to your loved ones. You can stay 24 hours a day and there are family rooms and kitchenettes in which you can gather your thoughts or rest if there isn't enough room in the patient's room.

The entire staff was friendly, kind and caring. The facility- "house"- was clean, but more importantly, warm and comfortable. The rooms were peaceful and did not resemble a hospital room. The staff was very attentive and caring, primarily to my mother but also to our family. Someone stayed with Mom almost every night on a pull out bed and no one complained. It was a terrible time but the Gordon Hospice House made my mother's last days comfortable and provided a peaceful environment for us to spend the last days of her life.

The nurses and staff are just excellent. We don’t have to lift a finger for anything. If I could rate it above 5, I would. It is very clean.

My mom stayed at Gordon Hospice House. It was excellent. They were very caring and very comforting. They kept you very much aware of what was going on. The food was wonderful. This place was for end-of-life and rehabilitation people, but they do whatever the patient wanted. We saw them even rolling beds outside go to be outside or to have some sunshine. They took them out. I could not ask for anything better. The place was very homey.

The facility is bright, spacious, clean and peaceful. There are lovely family areas on every hall with kitchenettes, dining areas and living room facilities. Quiet, meditative areas are located within the building and the outdoor gardens. There is a great deal done on site to make families feel comfortable and supported from snacks in the fridge to churches who donate a buffet meal weekly. This small town does indeed look out for its own. I found the staff to be very attentive to our questions and my loved ones' needs. I missed the presence of music, but nothing we requested or brought in was denied. Gordon Hospice House was a lovely place of safety and sanctuary for this difficult time in our lives.

I was somewhat disappointed with the lack of care given to my family member at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville. She was left alone for long periods of time while calling for someone and removing her clothes with the door left open. When family members offered to take turns staying with her, we were told, "We are not running a hotel here" I just found this to be rather cruel to a dying person and her family. Other insenitive things happened also but too painful to dwell on and write about. Employees could use sensitivity training and follow through with them.

The staff and faciiity at Gordon Hospice house are wonderful. Its a beautiful peaceful place. My mom actually improved after going there and got to go home with hospice. She was not so depressed after she was there. They treated her as if she were their own mother. Even now at home they still give us feedback and most of all the support my brother needs to take care of my mom. I highly recommend them. We could not have done it without them. It gives me the peace of mind I need knowing that my brother has them to rely on since I live so far away.
