My husband has been in the Pittsburg Nursing Center for over a year now. Before he was in a Gilmer Wesley House and Mt. Pleasant's The Lodge. Needing more care he was moved to Pittsburg's Nursing Center last year. I have not noticed anything that I would call a problem. He get great personal care and medical care. The food for patients is very good,. My husband enjoys it and it is much better than some other nursing homes. He is always tidy and so is his room. He is out of his room a lot and is always supervised. If anything goes wrong they call me right then and tell what they have had to do and will do as future help towards him. I have been very satisfied with Pittsbur Nursing Center

Mom was in Pittsburg Nursing Center. We chose it because it was just a few blocks away. The people there seemed to be happy and they got around. They seemed to get along well that's one of the reasons also why I put my mom there. However, I didn't know that they don't know how to take care of people with Alzheimer's. They weren't giving her medicine right. She had medication for anxiety, but they didn't give her any at the time that she was there. They didn't know that she was having this problem because they didn't pay attention to her. She lost her clothing which I eventually got back, but it was a hassle. She was so agitated and scared when I got her back.

Not suitable for someone with severe Alzheimer's - they don't understand the signs of pain, or realize that agression means either pain, not understanding or some other reason. Mom was on PRN of Lisonipril, which her nurses had me giving her 3 x a day for agression - they gave her none, not thinking she needed it, altho she spit, hit, etc anyone trying to clean her up or change her - signs like a sign to me! She is home now and so much better - able to smile - very little agression. She came home after 5 days, shaking, scared, in pain (they didn't crush her pills or open capsules - so she spit them out, therefore not getting anything for her knee pain. Place seens to be ok for naturally old people who can take meds and tell what is their problem.
