I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

The rooms are small with 3 residence per room. The floors are disgusting. The food is absolutely horrible. I wish my father's room looked like the picture on this site. Walls, windows are so dirty. Dirty stuff, towels laying in the common areas.

I am/was a resident of this facility

My mom is a resident of Manorcare Health Services. She is in the nursing home. She likes it there. The staff members are very good. They take very good care of her. She's comfortable and she really likes it there. She doesn't go out of her room. She has dementia. She has a television in her room. There's three people, it's very crowded, it's clean. When I visited, it was too cold, and we didn't visit very long, and they won't let you in the nursing home. It's in the hospital, it's old, but they keep it up. She pays way too much money for being there. I don't know if that goes to according to how much money she has or what. She pays a lot of money for her care there. I guess the food is OK. She eats it.

Provider Response

Thank you for sharing Cathy! We are glad to hear you were happy with your mother's care and that the staff at our center works well with her and your family.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother-in-law was in Manorcare for rehab after her surgery. It was nice and clean. They have very typical rooms. There were two people to a room, but it was OK. The food was nice, but sometimes the residents didn't think so. They have a little activity room and a TV room. It was nice and pleasant for a nursing care.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother had to spend a period of about 6-8 weeks on two different occasions, once starting in August 2010, and again in March 2011. In both cases, she was placed in Manor Care for rehab after suffering from a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack), which resulted in some memory loss and physical weakness. The first time, we loved the facility and the experience. The facility has an excellent in-house physical therapy program, and our experience with these people was uniformly positive during both visits. The nursing staff, however, were less than attentive during the second visit. We were not kept informed of changes in our mother's condition, and at one point she became very weak due to conditions that we felt indicated neglect of her condition. When we complained, we were informed that the current staffing situation did not allow the staff to provide the level of care that we expected, which amounted to little more than monitoring her intake of nutrients and providing assistance with her difficulties in handling dining utensils. We provided our own family members and friends to help from that point on, and decided that we would not place her in this facility in the future if she had a relapse.
