I visited this facility

There was nothing to not like about The Manor Independent Senior Living. I like the property. It's a very adequate property. In the kitchen, I especially like that it allows for wheelchair access. I'm interested in a 2-bedroom and 2-bath apartment. That is what I was shown. The apartment is well-lit. The person who gave the tour, Amy, was very knowledgeable and very polite. The facility is clean. The space that I was shown was spacious and personable. It seems that they are a little different than the other properties because their amenities are offered differently. For example, the meals are not included. It's kind of a plan. Their fees are a little different. Most of the other places' monthly's run from high 2's and into the 3's. Theirs is only $2,500 because the meals are ala carte. You can have the meal plan if you want, but basically it's all ala carte.

Provider Response

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My grandparents are staying at The Manor. The interactions that I've had with them so far have been pleasant. They assisted me in getting my grandparents secure into their housing without any problems. They have nice and well-maintained individual apartments. We haven't experienced the food yet, and they haven't participated in activities. Due to COVID, the food is being delivered to your apartment upon request and services are happening with social distancing.

Provider Response

Thank you so much for your review! We appreciate the feedback and are so happy that your grandparents have chosen to stay at The Manor! We hope they get the chance to enjoy The Dining Room once we are able to ease restrictions. If you need anything, please visit us at the front desk!

I visited this facility

The Manor was a little bit too independent for my mother, but it's a wonderful facility and most of the residents there were still driving. The activities seemed nice like arts and crafts, music, entertainment, bringing people in from the community, and pet therapy. The few staff that we met seemed very friendly.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I have been here at The Manor since it opened. It is wonderful. We have such wonderful people. The residents have become like family. We have an activity director, and there are planned activities each month. We have a calendar, which includes some trips, and we have a shuttle to go shopping. I have a wonderful kitchen, so I have not really done any eating in the dining room in a number of years. The staff is really excellent. There are two Manor buildings and I live in Manor III. We have a large hall up on the third floor where we have tables for activities. We have our coffee there on Saturday morning, we play our games, we play bingo, and we do puzzles there. We have a large lobby which is used for various purposes. The lobby and the opportunity to get together on the third floor for games and socials are important to us. The Manor is a little bit on the pricey side, but the value is worth it.

Toured The Manor while looking at places for mom. The apartments are the nicest of any retirement community in Charlotte, and the kitchens and vaulted ceilings are particularly wonderful. The staff could not be friendlier. This is definitely the retirement community for seniors looking to stay active and independent in a secure, social environment.

The Manor was beautiful, and the staff was professional and helpful. I really liked the rooms that they showed me because they were really bright. They have a washer and dryer and they also have a special tub. More importantly, the value and price was really good. The grounds and everything were pretty fantastic and very well done. I couldn't think of anything they can improve.

Provider Response

Dorian, Thank you for your kind words and for coming to visit our community. We pride ourselves on offering bright and spacious floor plans in an affordable environment. Thank you again!

The Manor had two buildings. One was the residences, and the other one was where they ate. They had specific times when they serve the meals. It was an older building, but the apartments were very nice. Their activities were very nice, too.

I visited this facility

I saw very few residents at The Manor when I was there. The serving and support staffs were very busy. The person showing me around was very formal. When I said I wasn't really interested in moving within a couple of months, she completely lost interest in me. The place was pristine and very clean. The dining room was very formal, but the rooms were cold and not welcoming.

The Manor was a nice place set up very nicely like independent apartments, but they had services available if you need a little bit more care and attention. I saw an apartment that was occupied, and it was very nice. I did not see too many activities there.

My wife and I are living in The Manor for two months now. This is an active community, and that is the reason why we chose this place. We just rent the apartment, and there is no buy-in, which we like. We do not need to contract the services in advance too. I haven't eaten in the dining hall very much because we usually buy or cook our own food. However, it seems that the food is very good. There are also activities for the community as a whole, such as picnics and entertainment. We also have individual activities determined by our interests. There are a lot of small groups that meet together and share their interests. We can go to the computer center if we want to. There is also a group that practices art. Our experience here so far is excellent.

The apartments at The Manor are beautiful. They are large, beautiful, and we like them very much. Everything is A+; it is very, very nice here. The staff is very, very good -- excellent. Like most places, they offer an exercise room and various activities in the great room, but I am not interested in any of those. I should be walking a lot more than I am. They have another set of apartments called the Dorchester and they also have a group of cottages here. A lot of people live here, almost 400. The food is a problem right now because the chef who was here when we came is no longer here and I think the food is not as good as it used to be. The dining room is attractive and very nice. The beauty of the apartments and the size of them are worth recommending. We have eleven-foot ceilings, granite countertops in the kitchen, and a laundry room. The rooms are large. They have prime building and chair rails. It is just a nice place. The staff is very nice, very good, and very friendly. They respond quickly. This is an excellent place.

I visited this facility

The Manor had independent living and if you need assisted living, they had another facility right alongside it. The facility was clean. They had shared exercise room and dining room. They also had a restaurant. One of the attractions there was no prepared food and you would have to order to food from the restaurant. You would have to order and pay for them unlike in other facilities where they had two or three meals a day provided by the facility. They had a quite reasonable sized room. They had a kitchen. The fees were a lot lower than the other place. The young person who showed us around was very nice. It was near a hospital and near a rapidly developing area with all kinds of restaurants.

Throughout the years I have always loved to volunteer and am still able to do that through the Friends & Neighbors program. I am a very social person and love to meet new people. Living at the Manor is like being in a college dorm all over again. I love staying active and independent.

From day one, after meeting the residents at the Manor I feel like I am part of one big family. I have the best of both worlds my own family lives close by too. Finding a place that is safe and secure was a big priority for me and believe me I feel very safe living at the Manor. I am very thankful there is no more yard work for me.

During the first couple weeks of my move to the Manor I met so many friends that made me feel very welcome. Everything is so convenient. My family lives very close to me and I can go shopping in less than five minutes from where I live. Afternoon socials at 4:00 PM are a must. I look forward to the social every day. There are so many activities to participate in I don’t have time to stay in my apartment unless I want to. I love my new home.

The Manor at Carolina Place was nice and brand new. It had a complete apartment with a full complete kitchen and laundry facility right in your own suite! It really appealed to me the most. Their rooms and the staff were nice. They catered to what the public wanted now and they were really upgraded.
