"I viewed the BeeHive Homes of Portales. It was a facility that had caring people in it, and it would have suited my needs, but I was able to care for my husband at home until he passed, so I did not have to put him in assisted living. I didn't meet everybody there, but the people I talked to were very kind. They were caring, considerate, and they were good. For an outdoor area, they have a little patio in the back. I haven't seen a lot of different places so I cannot compare them to others but it would have served my needs."

"We're gonna take our mother to Retirement Ranch. It's decorated nicely, they're very clean and professional, and I liked that they took a lot of COVID precautions before you even went to the signup desk. The one lady I talked with was very professional and very kind. The rooms were very clean. They had private ones but you had to pay $500 extra for that. The shared room was very plain and basic. The individual room was very clean and they each come with a bed, bedsheets, and their own armoire. They don't want you to bring any furniture from home in. If you buy any furniture like a chair or anything like that, you have to deliver directly from the store because they don't want any germs coming in. The staff said they had activities to keep them active and engaged with other people. They've got an exercise room, a beauty salon and you can get your hair done once a week and that's included in the price and they've got a beautiful garden area outside with a koi pond. They've got 108 rooms and they are divided in half. One-half is on one side of the wing and the other half is on the other side of the wing. That place was beautiful. I have not tried a meal, but as we're taking the tour of the facility, we could smell some wonderful smells coming out of the kitchen."

"I believe the facility catered well to her personal needs. Her hair and nails were done often, and she appeared to be well cared for. She was often very depressed, however, but I am not sure what could have been done better to help her with that. The building had a rather unpleasant smell, but I believe that is true of most facilities of this nature. "
