My husband was just released a week ago from Barnegat Rehabilitation and Nursing. He had been admitted 7 weeks ago after a very serious injury whereby he fell 8 feet from a ladder onto concrete breaking his hip and fracturing his pelvis in a few places. The nursing and physical therapy training was nothing short of AMAZING. When he left, he was doing stairs! After a week at home, he's not even using a cane. The physical therapists at this facility are wonderful. The nursing staff terrific. The staff in the office handle all your needs scheduling outside doctor visits and imaging testing. And, without the hard-working staff in social services, we would have been lost. They got us up and running so that we had everything we needed to be on our own. The men and women who keep the rooms clean, should be applauded for their daily hard work. Thank you for such loving care."

My mom has been a resident for over a year. Due to her need for around the clock care, family is unable to provide the attention that she needs. Aside from being home with us, we feel that she is being treated kindly snd her needs are being met. She has grown attached to the staff and they all love her! They tell me that, often. She recently celebrated her 100th birthday! The activities director coordinated a video and decorated the foyer in honor of mom. That is just one example of their kindness. Fun activities are in full swing again since COVID which is a wonderful means for the residents to socialize. All in all, we are pleased with the facility; mom’s home away from home.

I can’t say enough of the quality & care given at this facility from the front reception, to the administrators, hospitality and especially the hormonal nursing staff and aides - nothing short of excellence.

Treat their patients like prisoners. The facility is gross. My family member has a backed up toilet next to his room for two days and has to keep using it while it’s plugged up. This place needs to be shut down.

The facility is filthy, cheap and only out for profit. It is grossly understaffed. The employees constantly complained about the administration and understaffing. The care is horrendous do to the lack of staff and restrictions put on the staff. Some of the nursing staff is great. Others don’t care. The meals served are cheap scant portions of mostly processed foods and carbohydrates. The renovations do not go beyond the first floor. The second floor looks dingy and dirty like a third world country hospital ward for the poor. The only activity is smoking and coloring. It’s not a good idea to send your loved one to Barnegat if you want them to live. The corporate owners have their own nurse practitioners to restrict patients from going to the hospital. Even if they need to. The bottom line at Barnegat is profit and saving money. It’s truly disgraceful.

Would give no stars if I could!! This facility is absolutely AWFUL!!! My father was sent there on Friday night from the hospital. I should have known it would be horrible when I pulled up and their employees were smoking by the front door. My father is very ill. He has congestive heart failure among other issues. He can not walk on his own. He is confused and disoriented. I trusted that this facility would take care of him and keep him safe while I was waiting for the case worker to come in on Monday to evaluate and help with his discharge planning. I needed to setup home services as my father is unable to take care of himself. Today I call to speak with the nurses and I am informed that they let him sign himself out. They let a man who can not walk. Who does not know what year it is get picked up and taken out of there by his wife who has Alzheimer’s after I was told that he could not sign himself out. They did this without notifying me who is his healthcare proxy. They did this without proper discharge planning and without ever having him evaluated properly by a social worker. I feel this facility should be shut down immediately as they are completely incompetent. Stay far away from this facility if you care for your loved ones. Bring them elsewhere.

I am a relative of a resident that was at this facility and it is terrible. Please don't put your loved one here. It is dirty and the renovations have dropped probably due to lack of funds. The nursing staff aides and nurses pretend to care. I am a nurse and when I asked questions about my mother's condition, they just said she was fine and getting better without even checking on her situation. I asked for a doctor to see her and it never happened. Please take my advice as coming from a professional nurse and stay away from this facility!

My experience at Barnegat was very positive, the staff are friendly and caring toward the patients. They are currently going through a renovation of the patient rooms which look great. Our family member was treated with respect and well cared for. I thought it was great that we never experienced any odors or cleanliness issues during our stay this is a testament to the excellent work being done to make the environment as positive as possible. Would definitely recommend!!

DO NOT send anyone you care about to this place!! Barnegat Nursing Center is the worst !!! It's old and very dirty. There were bugs in her bathroom. My mother was there ,she got a terrible bed sore & infection, as a result was transferred back to the hospital & had to have IV antibiotics. She was afraid of some of the staff. This place should be shut down. I reported them to the state. I can not believe they are allowed to remain in business & treat people so horribly!!!

My mother is at Barnegat Nursing Center. The place is clean. There are no odors, and they take care of the people. I can't say anything bad about it, really. Well, a new company bought it. I guess there was a transaction around the beginning of 2014, and one of the things they said they were going to do is to try to renovate the place a little bit because it is older and it shows some wear, but it certainly isn't terrible. The appearance looks a little old; that's the only drawback that I see. It doesn't look like some of the assisted living facilities, that's for sure, but it's a nursing home. That's what it is. My mother has her laundry done; they do that. Clothes disappear, come and go. I don't know what you do about that. We've talked about it, but she wears stuff that's somebody else's. So I don't know whether they're being shared amongst the residents or whether the people take it home. But I haven't gone there and found her naked yet. If I found that there was nothing to dress her in, that would be a problem. The people are nice. They have activities for them; they're interested in them. I've never been there and had my mother smell because she hasn't been taken care of. If she says she has to use the restroom or whatever, there's an aide that usually comes right in and helps her out. The food is great. They get plenty of vegetables, which she didn't get at the other place (the facility she was in before). She's not a picky eater, but she said the food is good. She has never said anything bad about the food. My mother is almost ninety-eight years old. I'm looking for her to be warm, comfortable, have decent nursing care, clean -- all of those things are taken care of. We don't have any problems with them.

Barnegat Nursing Center is a very nice facility. They have nurses 24/7 that are very attentive to my mother. They're very watchful and caring. She has improved markedly since she has been in this place. They also had a lot of social activities that residents can involve themselves in and that's primarily what made a difference with my mother because her cognitive skills have improved. However, my mom complained about their food.
