Salem Residential Care

My friend has moved into Salem Residential Care. He loves it there, which is what I wanted. He is able to keep his little dog, which he has had for 13 years. I haven't had much experience with them because of COVID-19. I was able to go into his room with a mask on and help him unpack his things. I had to leave because they're not letting people in to tour the facility. I had to have my temperature taken and all the precautions, and I really appreciated that fact. Everybody I met seemed to be very nice. My friend has reported to me that he enjoys it and that he has met some really nice people there. He said the food is delicious, too. I'm a little concerned though because from what he's been telling me, the food doesn't seem to go along with a diabetic diet. That's the only thing that I'm concerned about. Like he had a cream pie the other night and he is always having a dessert. From what I was able to see, the facility was clean, and it did not look like it needed any repairs anywhere. My friend's room was immaculate. There was no odor at all. This place is clean. My friend is enjoying the activities. The way they have things is that they take one group out first and then they let them go back to their rooms, and then they take another group. He is doing an activity every single day. They have a fenced area where he can take his dog out for a walk, which he loves to do. He's got cable TV, so he's happy.

The facilities were clean. The apartments were well taken care of, and in excellent state of repair. The employees did everything, mow the yards, keep all debris picked up, sidewalks free of all obstacles. There was a severe storm while my daughter was there, and within a couple of minutes after the storm ended, the employees were making sure all residents were safe, and all limbs and storm clutter was removed. Some of the excellent services offered were meals cooked, a wonderful community center for all the residents, rides to doctors, stores, the library, and anywhere else they wanted to go. Staff were on duty 24/7 and they saw to the comfort and safety of my daughter and they were very friendly, and helpful.

Salem Residential Care is a wonderful place. The residents have more freedom and more activities for their age groups. This facility also plans trips for the residents. They involve the community in fundraising activities for the residents such as raffles and auctions periodically. They have 'in house' pets for the residents which is a therapy within itself for the residents. They take very good care of the residents and they are more like a big family than an assisted living facility.
