"The staff, for the most part, has always seemed helpful. If any issues ever arose then the facilitator was quick at solving the issue/s. I have had two family members at this facility and have felt like it was always clean. The staff has always seemed to be gracious toward not only my family members, but to other residents as well. Residents are treated to their mental and physical abilities and barriers. Those who are able to walk have free roam of the facility as well as the fenced in garden area in the back. There are covered tables and chairs, flowers, bird feeders, and birdbaths for the residents to enjoy. Those who are confined to a wheelchair can be assisted into this area as well. One family member of mine is bed ridden. She has been in the facility for a few years now and we have never felt that she has been neglected. Bed sores have not been present on her while she has been staying at the facility. Overall, I feel that the facility is a friendly and safe place for their residents. "

"After my grandmother completed a month-long stay in the hospital, it was suggested that she be placed in a nursing home. Her stay would be temporary until they could prepare the house with a hospital bed and medical equipment. After some research, we found that Minor Nursing Center in Sikeston would allow my grandfather to stay in the facility with her. This was one of the stipulations that he had for placing her and we were excited to find out this information. The excitement did not last long, however. Upon arrival, the nursing home assistant who was pushing my grandmothers wheelchair guided her into a door without so much as an apology. The room didn't appear to be as clean as it should have been, the space was very limited and there wasn't even a chair for my grandfather to sit. Before the first night began, we scrambled to get her out of the facility and back into her home. They also offered assistance in finding a hospital bed and equipment to be placed in her home. They did not help in finding the items and we contacted another agency the next day. Needless to say, we will not be returning to the Minor Nursing Center and would not recommend the facility to anyone looking for long-term care for a loved one. "

"I have had a lot of experience with this facility, dating back to 1992. In all I have had 3 grandparents have continual stays at the facility with the my grandpa still residing at the facility. Overall it is a okay place to have a family member in my opinion. It is close to all of our family, the people that work their are super nice and the food is good. They are always having little events and encourage all the residents to participate but at the same time they don't force them. Though this places has its problems too. They are completely understaffed at night and on several occasions my granddad fell because he had to go to the bathroom at night and no one could get to him to help. Also the facility stays completely full and match that with the fact they are understaffed makes for a lot of accidents. "

"Arbor Place’s staff is dedicated to treat patients with Alzheimer’s, and the nursing staff is excellent. They had special training in dealing with that kind of disability. When you walk down the hall, that’s where the bedrooms are located. It looked like a hotel room, and no TVs are allowed in the bedroom because they want them to interact. They had a living area with couches, chairs, and a TV. They have a family style dining table. It is one long table, and they all eat together. The food is prepared so they do not have cut it. If there’s a particular food that one of the residents doesn’t like, they will try to find a replacement. It’s a lot of one on one specialty. They have their own courtyard to where they are allowed to go in and out. They have a RN on staff and someone else during feeding period. If the family agrees, they will take the residents out to trips. The grounds were very nice and well-maintained, and they have two separate outdoor patios. They have on-staff physical therapists; you don’t have to go to a doctor to do physical therapy. Mom has physical therapy every day, they take them to activities, and other residents also involved. I am really happy with them so far. "

"Tamms H and S shelter care was a country paradise to stay at. The building itself was in somewhat disrepair, but the setting was nice and very rural. It is a small little town of about 300 people and there are not that many businesses. But, there is a small gas station and barbecue joint if you are looking for food or necessities. The quaintness of the town is what I liked the most. Also the weather is very warm there being in southern Illinois, and I took a liking to that too. The building I stayed in was very old, but it was quite large. The food was alright and you could order pizza or buy your own food whenever you wanted to. The staff were not payed much, but they were very knowledgable. they assisted with doctors appointments and your money for cigarettes and such. You could smoke there as much as you want to. I highly recommend this place for anybody looking for a shelter care out in the country. "
