I visited this facility

We have found a place for my mom, and it's called Diamond Willow Assisted Living. It's actually in the same city that she's at, so that was good. It's kind of what we wanted as far as the patient-to-caretakers ratio, so I think she's going to get a lot better care there. The room will be a smaller, but I think she'll do much better there. Right now, she's in an apartment-type living room and she needs better care. It was very comfortable and seemed welcoming. They make their own food and that was one thing that I liked. Where my mom's coming from, the food is brought in already made, and she's been complaining about that food for quite a few years, so hopefully, she'll like the food better. The staff has been nice. She has been in contact with me several times and she has been willing to give us all the information that we need. I haven't tried the food, but they were making it and it smelled delicious. They were also playing bingo when we walked through. They play several different types of other activities where they use their bodies, too, which I like. We saw two available rooms. They were very nice with lots of windows which we liked, and they were comfortable. My mom's room is going to be smaller than what she's used to.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My wife stayed in Diamond Willow. They were short of help at night. I wasn't very happy with them. I had to be there almost every day taking care of my wife anyway, so I have decided I might as well take her home. I could do better at home than they could. They didn't take care of her for her dementia really good. The food was acceptable though.
