Prairie Meadows has a secured Memory Unit call Rose Court where the door is controlled by an alarm system to let staff know when someone is going out the door.

Prairie Meadows has a designated area for dogs to play and also a walking trail that goes for miles just a couple of blocks away from Prairie Meadows. Dogs and cats need to be on a leash when out of the residents apartment.

Prairie Meadows keeps families informed about their loved ones through face to face conversations, telephone and email communication.

Prairie Meadows provides emergency pendants for all residents to wear, I am OK program, and locked doors during the night time hours.

Places that are near Prairie Meadows in Kasson that residents like to go to are, the Veterans Park that is in walking distance of Prairie Meadows. Erdman's grocery store, Dollar General, two banks, Mayo Family Clinic, chiropractor offices, dentist offices, salons, and other businesses are all located within a mile of Prairie Meadows.

Our Life enrichment program is designed to allow our residents to live their best life. Staff come along side each person, learning about who they are and their unique interests. Our vibrant program includes many ways to nurture the physical, emotional, vocational, and spiritual needs of our residents as well as facilitate connection with other residents, family, and friends in the community. You will find a fitness trainer led Live 2B healthy exercise program 3 times a week, weekly bible study and church service, and socials through the week. Music entertainment and music therapy are cornerstones in the community. Our current program includes resident requested events such as bingo, book club, Trivia, art programs, and sing-a-longs. We keep memories alive through our walk down memory lane sensory groups, our name that tune musical programs, and our stories from the past activity. Our program is ever changing to meet our residents where ever they are to live their best life.

The staff receives ongoing training through Relias online training program for dementia care. This is completed yearly.

Prairie Meadows has a wealth of program and activities offerings. The Life Enrichment Coordinator schedules music groups to come and perform, Nickel bingo offered at least twice a week, church service is held in the chapel with area clergy leading the service on Thursdays. Bible study weekly, Live 2B Healthy exercise class lead by a certified personal trainer on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of each week. These are just a sample of what is offered each week.

Prairie Meadows offers scheduled local transportation via a van for residents to go to doctor appointments, shopping, and other appointments in Kasson.

The overall population for assisted living residents is anywhere from being very independent to needing help with daily care. The average age of the assisted living population is 85. Favorite things to do is Bingo, attend Church, socialize in the dining room at mealtime, 500 card club, listen to musical entertainers, and therapy dog visits.

For daytime, there are 3 staffers on duty for memory care residents, on overnights, there are 2 staffers on duty.

The techniques used during mealtimes consist of serving the food and beverages, observe how the residents are eating and provide feedback to nursing when there is a need for texture changes or adaptive dishes and utensils. Staff also provides reminders to eat, and will assist residents with their food and beverages when needed.

Prairie Meadows is located in a residential neighborhood that has seen a great deal of housing development. Kasson Mainstreet is located 7 blocks from Prairie Meadows. Just a few blocks away is a rural setting with cornfields and other types of farming.

Prairie Meadows is not affiliated with any type of hospital but if more care is needed St. Mary's and Olmsted Medical Center hospitals are within a 20 min drive from Prairie Meadows.

The assessments for resident's health and cognitive functioning is done by a RN. The resident's are assessed every 90 days or sooner if staff sees a change in condition.

Prairie Meadows chef provides three home cooked meals served restaurant-style daily. The dining experience starts in the morning with a continental breakfast, noon and evening meal offers a self serve salad bar, home made soups, followed by a choice of different entrees for the main course. For dessert the server will bring out a tray of choices to select from, including a sugar free choice.
