I could write a book on reasons you do not want to bring a loved one to this facility. My mom was transferred to Tendercare Sutton's Bay, after surgery at Munson hospital. Outside of rehab. for her injury, there was no reason she needed to be in nursing home. Having said that, my mom has cognitive awareness, knew right from wrong, compassion from detachment... She saw none of this. We had one problem after another, from medication found on the floor of her room, to her pushing the emergency button with family members present on several occasions, only to have nobody respond for 20 minutes to as long as 50 minutes. My mom was on Norco directly on the heels of surgery to be dispersed every 4 hours, we discovered that over the first 24 hours it was given to her twice! No help to the bathroom, family had to do it. Medications she had been on for the long haul, over looked and given late or not at all. My mom has COPD on several occasions we found her wheezing in the morning upon families arrival! Completely unacceptable. When you go to look for help after nobody responds to the emergency button, there is no help to be found! I have inquired about this facility since removing my mom after her very short stay, I have yet to hear one single positive remark, to the contrary, full accord of other nightmare experiences from others in the community. It is disgusting that this place is open.

My husband is in Tendercare. The security is really good, and the staff is very helpful. He has a room with a bed, closet, side table, and television. He has physical therapy and activities, but he doesn’t choose to do them. He has been there for only a few days. The dining area is OK and seems clean, and the food is typical institutional food.

Tendercare Health Center of Leelanau was a beautiful place. The staff was very good and very helpful when we got there. They're mostly private rooms, though some were doubles, and they're very nicely done and very well kept. The whole place was very clean and didn't smell at all. It was just very nice.

This facility is greatly understaffed. It took 20 minutes for a nurse's aide to respond to my mom's call light. No wound care was provided for my mom's ulcers on her legs. My mom sustained a fall out of bed due to no safety rails on the beds, with this facility knowing that my mom was in a state of delirium. A bed alarm was placed in her bed after she fell. She hit her head when she fell & with her being on blood thinners we were not advised she needed to go to the ER until one full day after the fall. Very displeased with the lack of quality care that my mom needed & deserved
