My father has just moved into Riverview Terrace Apartments. He is very happy because there are many people there. They have a community room that has coffee from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and my father can socialize with other residents there. They also have a nice patio area where they could visit with each other. He is closer to downtown and everything else, so he was able to watch the parade yesterday. The apartments themselves provided a barbecue in the afternoon, and so even though he has just moved in, he has been very busy and able to have others around him. They also have someone there in the facility 24/7 in case there are emergencies for the residents. He is a very social person, and so this is a good fit for him because he thrives on being able to be around others. He has started making friends right off the bat. They have a puzzle area, a library area, and a workout area with a pool table. Being close to downtown, he can use his wheelchair. Like this morning, he said he took his wheelchair and went along the bike path just to get out and about. There's a Salvation Army store he went to as well. They are very friendly, and they approached Daddy right away. The people who work in the office are very friendly and welcoming, and were very quick to try to help him with his needs. My father was very depressed where he was because he lost his wife. Everything in the apartment reminded him of her, and so he was anxious to get out right away. The staff members were very friendly, and they made a point to show us everything. It's very nice. They are very helpful and very pleasant. The facilities are very nice. The patio area almost feels like a park to me. They have a calendar of activities that they post. They have movie nights, and they have activities available for them if they choose to participate. Even if my father doesn't choose to do those, there are things offered.
