In the early 1990s researchers in our Institute for Aging Research discovered the benefits of weight training for even the oldest old. Hebrew Rehabilitation Center residents took part in an Institute study that examined whether progressive weight training could combat or reverse muscle weakness experienced by adults as they age. This muscle weakness can contribute to functional decline and put many seniors at risk for falls. The study proved that even the "oldest old" could build muscle strength with exercise.Non-Medical Private CareHSL Private Care offers in-home, non-medical private care for our residents of Center Communities of Brookline (CCB), as well as the Brookline community. Assistance ranges from cleaning and laundry to bathing, dressing, errands/shopping, meal preparation, mobility help, medication reminders, and companionship. We work with most long-term care insurances to submit claims for reimbursement for our services. Our staff are specially trained, supervised, insured, bonded, and thoroughly screened. We work closely with family members and community professionals to ensure a well-rounded plan of care is in place. We pride ourselves on providing in-home care to allow an individual to age in place safely while maintaining their respect and dignity.
