We have placed Mom at Balsam House. It is small, but the owners are very personable. Currently, they only have eight residents, but they are expanding though. They’re putting in 16 beds this coming summer. It is very small and very quaint. It is like an oversized house. Each patient has their own room and its own bathroom at least with respect to a sink and flush. There is a large shower area where they can take the patient in and they can bathe them whether they’re in a chair or standing or anything else. Food is excellent in my humble opinion. It is far from an institution-type setting. It is homey. The staff has been extremely receptive. The two owners are very particular about the patients that they take in and they’re more particular about the people they hire. They do offer activities. They actually have a little happy hour. The neighborhood is very rural; the grounds themselves are not manicured. You have your lawn and walkway and beyond that, you might have some open fields, but it is far from the manicured type landscaping. It is intimate and far from institutional.
