Happy daughter of a resident

This is such a wonderful assisted living. The staff is lovely, low-key, and welcoming - and there are many of them, relative to the number of residents, so no one feels rushed and Mom gets plenty of attention. Everyone seems happy and they appear to love their jobs and to be very well-organized. The building is pretty and well-maintained. They have made our mother feel at home and supported her in being as independent as possible. Her apartment is beautiful. We feel incredibly fortunate.

The staff is great and the rooms offer what is needed. The food is subpar. Despite the complaints from most of the residence the meals served are not cooked well, are repeated often, offer odd choices and have little variety. Standard offerings that are suppose to be available every day are often not in stock. Apparently the facility is in a contract with the food provider that can not be broken. Still someone that has experience cooking could at least not over cook or under cook the food.

My experience with this facility was initial depressing, as i find these sort of places upsetting. I think it is upsetting because it appears as though family members just "stick" their elderly here to get them out of the way. I was wrong for several reasons. First the staff at this location was incredible. They were considerate, affectionate and understanding of the patients individual needs and situation. The Facility was Bright and clean with incredible views of the ocean. It had an almost retirement community feel to it, except for the those who were in poor health needing a lot of assistance. Chase point has an onsite library, a hospital with state of the art facility that specializes in orthopedics. All in all i was thoroughly impressed with the care of the patients, the attitudes of the employees and finally the over all appearance of the place. Location certainly helped with the presentation of the facility as coastal Maine is absolutely gorgeous.

The care and assistance my grandfather-in-law received while at this facility was phenomenal. He was moved to Chase Point after staying in a temporary facility where we were horrified by the care he received. While at Chase Point he had above standard living area, privacy, with a home feel. There were numerous social opportunities and daily events available to keep him busy and in contact with other residents and staff.Chase Point provided him both the care he needed and the freedom to live his life as independently as possible. The staff was always professional, helpful and extremely knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make the residents in their care feel welcome and comfortable. At times it felt like the staff were trained to act as if they were in the residents home instead of the resident being in a facility.I would highly recommend the staff and facility to anyone looking for assisted living situations for a loved one who needs the extra help to maintain a semi-independent lifestyle.
