At the request of my mother-in-law I visited Friendship Home in Audubon. Overall, it was a good facility. It's a Christian focused environment which is something my mother-in-law is looking for. The overall amenities of the facility are in line with what you would expect. One of the nicer off-beat amenities is that it allows some of the residents(who are able) to manage the wall-gardens on the outside of the facility. While it doesn't seem like much, it should be noted that this is a great step toward normalcy for many residents. My grandmother and aunt kept gardens until they went into assisted living, and I know my mother-in-law is the same way. The layout and rooms are solid, but unspectacular. One of the things I noticed was that the residents were generally busy. Not that they were all doing one activity or even all grouped together, but everyone seemed to be doing something, it was kind of nice to see a higher level of activity in such a place, as I have been to many and have often seen, many people just sitting in chairs staring off. Here, something was going on for everyone, watching TV, playing cards, going outside to walk or tend garden, there was something happening. While it was an unspectacular site, it seemed well kept and the residents seemed to be getting along quite well. Overall, a very nice tour and visit.
