"If I need a senior place, I lean towards going to Regency at Hualalai. It is the only upscale place. They have both independent and assisted living. It is good and I like it. It is pretty comprehensive. The only thing they do not have is the inhouse health center skilled nursing place. They have mind care as well as assisted living and independent living. It is a 5-star place. It is the best place in the Big Island. The staff members are OK."

"We toured Life Care Center of Kona. They have shared rooms and half of the room has a window that's looking out and it has an ocean view, which is nice. I thought that would be great for my mom. She could look out because she likes nature and she was an outdoor kind of person. People can get out of the building in wheelchairs on their own and they had a little garden there. It's a nice spot. It has a good location. Other than that, I can't say anything because they never got back to me after I talked to them and they said they would get a hold of me. I can't say anything else about the facility other than it's a nice spot. I definitely would consider it. It's kind of expensive, but I thought I could at least try it for respite for my mom for a little while. It was clean, but I have no idea what kind of care they give since my mom hasn't been in there. I only talked to one person. She was nice, but she never got back to me, so I don't know. I called so many times, nobody ever got back to me. It looked fine to me on the inside, but if they don't communicate with you, what good is it then? The admissions girl gave me a tour and showed me the rooms and the surroundings. She said she would get back to me and that never happened. The structure was nice."
