The Residence at Oak Grove

The Residence at Oak Grove was nice. It's a very new facility. It was laid out with bright, open common areas. There's a lot of natural light in the common areas and the dining areas. The rooms were large and accommodating. The smallest of them was still quite spacious. They go all the way up to having very large rooms where you can have a pretty large sitting area as well as a bed. It's kind of like a studio apartment. They all had large, accessible restrooms with walk-in showers. They were able to provide quite a bit of furnishings if you needed it or you could bring your own. So, you had that option.

Dissatisfied

The food is so bad very unappetizing, residents complain but nothing is done. The staff are very unhappy and tell the family members all the time. Never any activities, they are advertised, but are not available. The Executive Director is very rude and never listens to family members, interrupts you constantly. You can tell no one is happy there. Lots of promises but that’s as far as it goes. Don’t be fooled by the newness of the building, everything that shines is not gold! There are better places to choose from. Very disappointing!

I liked the cleanliness and the updated decor of The Residence at Oak Grove. The rooms were adequate. They were fine. Nothing spectacular stood out to me. I did not observe any activities, but they told me what kind of activities they would have. They have a PT department and some sort of exercise program every morning, and a devotional. They also tried to have a field trip every week. I only met two people. One was very knowledgeable and the other was very friendly. One of my complaints actually was when we took the tour we did not meet any of the staff or the residents. It was like a ghost town, but those two people who assisted me were very helpful and very knowledgeable.

If my father can go to assisted living, he will go to The Residence at Oak Grove. It was just very inviting and very friendly. It was a beautiful facility and very clean. The apartments were beautiful also. They have from your studio to your deluxe and they are all very nice. I like the way they are set up. In some of the common areas, they have a Keurig. You can make your own coffee. They have different little things in the refrigerator that you can warm up to eat, as a snack. They have lots of areas to go out and enjoy the fresh air and the birds. It's very nice. They have a couple of different dining areas and they're all very nice. They're set up like a table at home. They have cloth napkins and glasses instead of plasticware. It's very homey. Joe was very, very accommodating and very thorough in showing me the different rooms and the different levels.

I love, love, LOVE this facility. The staff is friendly, compassionate and supportive of the residents here. My mom enjoys the various activities, the food, and her new friends. I’ve never worried about her care because I know she’s in GREAT HANDS !! If you’re looking for a great HOME for your loved one, the Residence at Oak Grove is the ONE. Great job staff.
