I recommend this facility to anyone. I love the single person rooms Really clean and kept clean I was in the North Wing room 320. The nurses and I mean all shifts were exceptional. As were the CNAs The regular house keeping was great. I was here 16 days, and actually enjoyed it. The PT and other therapy was great They were easy to work with too They got me back to where I could walk out of this place. I made a lot of good friends. Yea, I plan on coming back for a visit. The staff members are very nice. I can’t say enough about them! All of our questions were answered. Physical therapy didn’t hold me back and just let me go for it.

My father was at Parkside Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation at Ellijay, which we did not like. He was there for a couple of months, and it just wasn't a good fit for him. He needed rehab, but his blood pressure was too high or he keeps trying to get out of bed, so they'd restrain him. He wasn't getting any rehab, and it was just very frustrating. He lost about 50 pounds while he was there in two months. It wasn't a good situation. I've been told they've opened a new section, and I wish that the situation might have been very different if they had him in the new section. The new section is just for rehab. Where he was before were long-term care patients and hospice. It was very depressing for him. The new section was modern and state-of-the-art. There was one nurse that was good with him, but if she wasn't there, it was not good. They didn't do much. They rarely got him out of bed. In the two months, he was there, he got one shower. They basically just left him in bed or they'd put him in a chair. It was like a recliner, but he couldn't get out of it. They'd put him in that and wheel him out into the hallway if we weren't there. If we went, we would get him up and take him outside, but the rest of the time, he just laid in bed. They didn't want him to get out of bed without assistance. They'd bring his food and they'd set it on the counter by the door and he couldn't get to it. It was just not a good experience for us. The food wasn't good. They would push him into a room and there were puzzles or decks of cards, but I never saw the staff interact with them. I would not recommend it. If they had the proper staff and better leadership, it would go a long way.

My father moved into Parkside Ellijay (formerly Gilmer Nursing Home). It's old but clean. The staff is friendly and helpful, but they are tremendously understaffed and the staff is overworked. The food is decent.

Gilmer is much more organized. It has very wide halls, and they are not allowed to sit out in the hall. They have a big large room that they have to congregate in. The staff was very nice, and they make sure everybody is taken care of properly. You can put your name on a list for a single room. The dining area is nice and well-kept. They served three meals and two snacks. They have things for them to do, like four times a week they have movies and armchair exercises.

This facility is great! My grandmother spent several happy years here, making friends and living a great life. The staff was very helpful, as well as knowledgeable about the concerns of their elderly patients and their families. They also made everyone there as well as their families feel a part of one larger family. The amenities include an in house hair salon, nail salon, as well as a variety of events to keep residents as well as their family and friends entertained. Bingo, dance lessons, as well as an in house library set this nursing home facility apart. An attention to detail in care giving, as well as cleanliness and caring make this facility one that I would gladly refer loved ones to. Without this facility I'm not sure what would have happened to my grandmother, she stayed happy and healthy though the last years of her life and for that I am thankful.
