I was a resident at Hillcrest Active Adult Community in Atlanta. It was nice, and I was very active. We went to the Christmas lights, and we had gym classes. It was a really nice experience. I got a chance to be with other senior citizens. I chose it because I was trying to get close to my family. However, they raised their rent, and the rent took my whole check, so I had to find a part-time job to kind of make it. That didn't go too well with me. I feel like senior living shouldn't be that high. It went from $1,100 to $1,200, and that was expensive for a senior. The staff could be more concerned about the elderly too. Some acted like they didn't care because they didn't live there. There was a nonchalant spirit, but not all of them were like that. We have an area where they would give away food and have a little gathering for people. They didn't cook for us or anything like that though. They just have these little things where we could have gotten food. They let the trash pile up too much. They could have done better with that. Instead of being on it and mopping and cleaning it up, they kind of just let it not be kept up right. The gates were broken, and the door was broken sometimes. It took a long time to repair, and that was dangerous. They had things for the senior citizens to do, like work out at the mall, and just have a fellowship and exercise. They also took us out to see Christmas lights and do activities together.
