I wouldn't recommend Okeechobee Healthcare Facility at all. They had very little staff. It was a dismal. There was a lot of neglect of the elders. My friend had a joint room there. They did have church activity on Sunday, but that was it. Some staff members were good, and some were poor. The food was horrible. The third wing looked great, but the other two wings needed to be updated. My friend was only there for six months.

I was there for 17 days after cardiac surgery. The room was comfortable with an electric recliner, large screen TV, and a large guest chair. The staff was caring, attentive, professional, and never rushed, sometimes staying to talk with me, and listening to my stories! If I needed something they were always there. I have had 5 hospitalizations and some rehabs, none compared to OHCF! I saw the care given to the long term patients and residents, they are treated like family, it was wonderful to see. Highly recommended!

Okeechobee Healthcare Facility was clean when I walked in. There were a lot of people there. The hallway was kind of crowded, but they were residents that had been there long term. The facility was nice itself and I didn't have anything bad to say about the facility. It was nice. One of the nurses gave me a tour and she was very knowledgeable. She walked me through everything and answered all of my questions that I needed at the time. They have an area outside for the locked residents. It's like an outside gated area where they can actually go and physically get in the sun. My dad loves being outside and that part impressed me very well.

My mom is in Okeechobee Health Care Facility. We choose it because she lives there in the vicinity. The place is clean. It is in a good location. It is literally next door to a hospital. There are no odors. The staff is very friendly. If I need anything or need to ask a question, I can walk up to anybody and they will try to help you. They have free wifi so anybody who has a table or computer can use that. She has a shared room, but she goes around and does things. They have private TVs in every room, but they also allow you to bring in some of your own stuff. My mom has her favorite chair and she also her 42" TV in her room. They accommodate a lot. My mom loves the cooking there. She says it’s the best, so I cannot complain about that. They do take her laundry. There are things for people to do and she can go down to the hallway. They have a great room where anybody can go down and they set it up. They have a calendar of events for every day of the week for whoever wants to go. My mom is partial to bingo, so she goes to bingo. Where she is at is not a locked facility, she can go outside. It is not a fancy place, but it is nice, clean, modern, and most of the residents that I run into, they seem happy about the place.
