"I think The Surrey Place was a great place for elderly people to spend their time. My mother-in-law worked there a few years and I also had a friend who resided there a few months. The staff was excellent. Super friendly but they were southern and I think that southerners have a great deal of manners. The facility was always clean and cheerful. They had activities for the residents and a nice outside area to get fresh air. That being the case, I was impressed with the nursing home idea, as with before, I quite honestly thought they were a cruel place for a loved one to live. The other place was Suwannee Healthcare, with which I was impressed with the cleanliness, friendliness, and amount of activities for the residents. All in all, the residents there were happy and enjoyed seeing new and other faces of their friends family. It was a genuine, warm feeling of love there. If I need to live in an assisted living facility,I would choose either The Surrey Place or Suwannee Healthcare because of the hospitality and beautiful outside scenery. It was an amazing place, though I don't know what the cost. I reccomend eihter of the two. "

"I liked the set up at Sands Horizon, Inc. It was very nice and the atmosphere was very comfortable. The rooms were nice. It was a nice apartment with enough space and the main thing was my brother liked it. The staff was very good. They were helpful. I knew they have some activities, but I didn't know what they were. I would recommend this community to others. "

"Dowling House was a nice community, they've got very friendly people, and they allow pets, but they have bugs right in the living room. Other than that, everything was fine. They have a very nice cafeteria. There's a lot of walking. They have assisted living as needed, and it's a Section 8 housing. The apartments were small. They're clean, but I'm really stuck on the bugs. They have a little newspaper that comes out every month, and it gives you all the different areas. It's a beautiful place. They have a library, a beauty salon, a pharmacy, a grocery store, restaurants, and church. There are also little houses and cottages. It depends on the price you want to pay and how independent you want to be. The staff during the tour was sweet and very nice. You can prepare your meals on your own or you can go to the cafeteria and they charge you, but they have good meals."

"My personal experience has been positive. My grandfather is completely bed bound and he is unable to talk. He cannot tell me if he is being mistreated. When I visit, I always check him out. He is always clean and does not have any bed sores. If I think my grandfather is in pain or need a towel, then a nurse will check him out or bring a towel to the room.The nurses are very friendly and really do not mind answering questions. They keep him well-groomed by cutting his hair, trimming his fingernails and cutting his toenails. The amenities are basic, such as three meals a day, TV room, game night, grooming and visitors from different community groups. The facility is clean and an adequate amount of staff. The only negative was the way the nurse spoke to my grandmother when she asked the nurse a question about my grandfather. My grandmother is the straight-forward type and can come off rude. The nurse should have shown more patience. "

"I am staying in Madison Health & Rehabilitation. They've been good to me. They've been helpful and given me what I need. We're well pleased with it. They're friendly, and they try their best to accommodate you. They serve three meals a day plus snacks. Their food has been surprisingly good. It has good portions, good quality, and a good mix of things. The building is clean, and they are constantly cleaning. The maintenance people come through and do their upkeep, cleaning filters on the AC and checking water. They have a lot of different activities. I don't participate in most of those. It's a combination of rehab plus a lot of permanent residences, like a nursing home type setup, so a lot of the entertainers and the activities are geared more towards them."

"My husband was in Crestwood Nursing Home for 2 months from July to September. He’s been there 3 times. The staff was good. We had some issues with the CNAs and also a couple of the nurses, but we handled those problems with the director, and they were corrected. It’s an older building, but it’s in good condition. They had a water problem in his bathroom, and they fixed that. He was in a private room, and it had a big closet. It had a bathroom with a tub, a seat and a bed. It was kept clean everyday. They had movies, and they had bingo. They had a lot of activities for the other residents, but he could not participate because of his medical condition. They did very well on the food; they were very compliant and made sure he didn’t have any of the foods that he was allergic to. "

"Holly Hill was very joyous!! The are so chippery there. I called them Happy Hill instead of Holly Hill while I was there laughs. Great environment and I liked that they let me tour the whole place...NO BOUNDARIES!! Thats gives you confidence in feeling that there is nothing to hide if your loved one is there. "

"A slight odor the moment you walk in the door...nothing super serious but jus a little sour scent. That doesnt mean the place is filthy, it could be something minor. Staff was friendly and courteous. I dont want to discourage anyone away from this place but it needs a little more effort to make it a great place. I will say that the clients I met seemed to be very happy being there though, I even got a chance to talk & eat with some of them and they were actually pretty comical laughing "

"I live at The Ashbury. I have no complaints about it. It's a four-story facility. They have some kind of independent organizations come through now and then, like the churches or help and things like that. Interaction with the staff is only when there is an announcement that needs to be made or if you have any concerns about the apartment or something like that. Other than that, there is no interaction at all. This is a regular apartment with all the necessities. The building has been here for four years."

"Langdale place seems to be a very well suited home for my grandmother. She has been here for almost a year, and talks positively about it. The home offers many arts and crafts, music, and other activities, and my younger relatives love to visit her while these are offered. I feel these activities provide a very nice incentive for children to visit their loved ones, and I know my grandmother enjoys visiting with all of the children of my family. The food offered in the cafeteria is very southern, which is extremely comforting to my grandmother. The staff even refers to lunch as "dinner" and dinner as "supper", which are terms my grandmother has always used, being raised in south Georgia. While shopping for a home for my grandmother, my family found many more economical solutions than Langdale Place, but I believe the extra costs are worth it. Additionally, the home is located in a very nice part of Valdosta, and is within walking distance of the local Middle School where some of her great-grand children currently attend. Overall, Langdale Place has pleased my grandmother and my family, and I would suggest it to anyone, provided they can afford it. "
