"Timber Hills was a very nice place. It was very close and convenient, they just didn’t have any opening. I had a couple of friends out there on the waiting list right now. The rooms were fine, but again they didn’t have a lot of rooms with washer and dryer in independent living. You had to go laundry area. Everything about the place was really good. They had a big open house there, and we were invited. They had a car show there and other things to look at. "

"I'm very impressed with Cherrywood Pointe. They had assisted living, but you don't have to sign up for it if you don't need it. It's very clean, well-run, and I've heard good things about them. The person who assisted me was wonderful, very knowledgeable, and helpful. I liked the facilities, and you could choose any activity you want to do there. The dining area was excellent."

"My father is in Walker Methodist Health Center, and it looks clean. They're woefully understaffed and I have nothing against any immigrants coming here, but a lot of times the language barrier is there, and that's tough. He's in there for physical therapy, so they've been helping him with physical therapy, but he's reluctant to do much of it, so it's just not going well. Everybody I talked to there seemed good and they were all nice people. But, when I would call and stuff, I had a problem getting through because of the language barrier. And then I think I think everybody is short-staffed and we just need more people working there, and these people certainly need to be paid more money. They seem to park everybody in a circle so one person can watch them in front of the TV because of the short staffing, and then sometimes somebody will come in and play the piano, which is very nice. I think all the residents appreciate that. I think you pay a lot of money and unfortunately, it doesn't go to the right places. It goes right to the top and unfortunately, the elderly suffers."

"We chose Covenant Living of Golden Valley. We liked how happy everyone was, the involvement of people in the community, and the interactions that people had with each other. The residents were just interactive, happy, and welcoming. It just depends which room you get. Some have laundry, some don't, and it depends on the size of the room. But one thing about them, there's a buy-in option, but you can redecorate your room how you want it before you move in."

"My brother has moved into Heathers Estates, and so far, it's been good. He's only been there for about a month. It fits his personality, and it's homey. The staff had a very welcoming attitude and seemed to hit it off with him very well. They have lots of activities going on and a menu that is very good. They have a higher percentage of men, so they are more no-nonsense in decoration and feeling. They have a men's group, which is uncommon to find. They have a nurse that comes in, a pool for water aerobics, a van that goes out to different places, and potlucks. It's a very good place for him. "

"We’re moving my parents to Towerlight on Wooddale at the end of June. It was just basically my cousin who was looking for her mother, and they have everything that met their needs: availability and location. And it works for my parents, too. It’s a really beautiful facility, and what they have to offer is very inviting. I know it’s new; it opened last August. It's more urban looking and about a 5 or 6 story building. It has a nice setup for them. They have a senior living, assisted living, and memory care. The senior living offers assistance in their apartment so they don’t have to move. The person we met was very personable. The one-bedroom apartment is about 1700 square feet. It has a bath, nice kitchen, and a living room. Everything a normal place could have, they have it. They have an art studio, exercise classes, little movie theater, beauty and barber shop, and even a daycare center for children. They try to co-exist so elderly people could watch the children. They offer full service breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but we haven’t tried their food. "

"The Willows At Vernon Terrace of Edina was very nice, open, and friendly. It's so handy to everything and very well-located. They have a lot of activities. They don't have a pool, but they have exercise rooms, card-playing rooms, a library, a salon, a bus that takes them wherever they need to go and on trips. There's a lot of good qualities, and the staff is good and very nice. They didn't return calls very quickly, but they responded very well otherwise. They've got caregivers on staff, and they're very good in getting them to their appointments if their family isn't available. "
