"My mom is at Cottage Grove Place's independent living. Everything is going really well. Everything they told us that would be, we're happy with. She's happy being there. The staff knows their people, and they care about the best for their residents (whether it's part of their job or not). They have two different types of dining rooms. I ate in the Grill. It's more casual and had a more casual environment. I thought that it was fine. They gave a fair portion and the prices seem to be reasonable. They have activities every day. She has something to do every day. We feel really good that she's in a good place that she can live for the rest of her life."

"We know many people at Meth-Wick. They gave us a tour of two of their places in the assisted living, and we enjoyed them. However, we are so far down on the waiting list, it will be a couple of years before we go in there. They have a variety of very talented staff members, specialists, Alzheimer's exercises, and food preparations. It seems to be the right place for us. It is surrounded by woods and lawns, so you know you're in a safe place. The location is close to everything, like our grocery stores and fitness centers. The community is clean."

"Oaknoll nursing home is a great nursing home in a quiet community. Located on the west side of Iowa City residents are close to the downtown area but also have a quiet living environment because they live near mostly graduate students. Iowa City is a great college town that has many activities and restaurants. There is also a Wal-mart nearby. During the tour there was a wonderful screened in porch and sun room, plus a recently added spa and movie theater. I was surprised that there was also a gym and full sized swimming pool, because I enjoy doing water aerobics and it seemed like a nice place to do them. If the transition to assisted living is necessary that service is found on site as well. The people I saw at Oaknoll seemed happy and seemed to be at least in their 60's. I'm not sure if this is where I will wind up retiring to but it is certainly a great choice. "

"I toured Terrace Glen Village. I mean, they were great. It's a beautiful facility, and friendly staff, and the reason why I chose not to go there was that they separate their assisted living and their independent living. Two separate wings, two separate dining halls, and I decided it is better for my dad to come and go with people that were a little bit more independent because he's right on the verge of needing some assistance, but he's pretty independent. The rooms were very nice, very, very clean. They have tours and all kinds of fun things for them to do outside and inside. It was more expensive, and price is a concern, but it's a really nice facility."
