When it comes to the caregivers, there was somebody different every day. They were very good and they were here 24 hours a day. I chose this agency because I saw their advertisement and their fees were reasonable. The billing would charge me through my credit card. The scheduling was fine, they usually do eight hour shifts, which usually means there are three different faces here every day."

"I have my aunt at home from the hospital and we're having some marvelous home health care coming in through Tugaloo Home Health Care, an Amedisys Company. They're very good. They're good with her. We're seeing them about three times a week but I know it's going to end soon. With them, I'm able to have her here because they help me. What I need is someone that can come into the home and let me go do the things that I have to do to keep a home running like getting groceries or go to the pharmacy. We've had personal care like bathing and a home health aide who is marvelous and helped us get set up. We have a nurse that comes out, and she's down to once a week now. She was three times a week, and she's very skilled and very knowledgeable. She checks her vital signs. We also have physical therapy visits. We see the physical therapy ladies now twice a week. They're very knowledgeable and my aunt is gaining strength. We were in a bad situation when she came home. She couldn't move, and now she's up and walking. She uses her walker for stabilization, but more and more you see it kind of going to the side and my aunt being able to walk a little bit on her own. They're always concerned about what we have going on. They always make sure that we don't have a guest coming in or we have a doctor's appointment. They're very concerned with our schedule. My aunt doesn't like early morning times, so they're kind and they try to work with us on her schedule. She likes midday to afternoon because that's when she's able to function at her highest level."

"This has been by far the worst healthcare organization I have ever dealth with for my family. The CNA is EXCELLENT. However, the nurses do not want to do their job. My mom has a cathiter that has to be changed every other week. The nurse (Allison) didn't want to have to change it, so she called the doctor and talked him into once a month. This ended up in an infection with my mom. Once we got the orders changed back to the way they should be, the nurse (Allison) was back coming every other week. The nurse now has an attitude with my parents like it is a big inconvience for her to have to do this now. As of today, this Home Health Care company is discharging my mom from services because THE NURSE (Allison) states my mom is capable of going to the doctor to get it changed. Again, - she doesn't want to do her job. My mom is in a wheelchair, paralized on left side. She can not drive, she can not even dress herself, yet THE NURSE states she can go to the doctors office. This same nurse has also dropped my mother causing a very large cut on her hand as well as a bruise that covered the entire hip area. This same nurse also orders my father around while she is there. He is on oxygen and cannot do this, yet he feels obligated while she is there. "

"This company is only about billing. An additional employee came to our home with a regular nurse - uninvited & not needed and wanted to "lay eyes on the patient and just say hi" which is ALL they did - then had my caregiver sign their pad when I stepped out of the room. The nurse sent to our home -for two elderly patients - had NO experience and never answered a single question or gave any helpful advice - just said they would check on that and let us know. Useless. The gentiva hospital wing is understaffed and slow. All CNAs were outsourced and VERY young & inexperienced. Maybe an intern program. The main charge nurse was extremely haughty. The nurses didnt know how the (very sparse) equipment worked - popping oxygen tubes out on both ends, dropping parts on the floor, etc. at times it looked like the lucy & ethel show. If you love your sick ones, go a.nother direction!! I now have to live with making the decision to go with a group that caused my loved one distress and could not have been less caring. Our family was shocked and disappointed at the time we needed the most help & comfort. We immediately cancelled Gentiva hospice for our other parent and now are with a real doctor who actually sees his patients and a good home health company.. "
