My dad moved to the assisted living facility of Colfax Senior Living. I visited six different assisted living and memory care facilities because my dad has the beginning of dementia. We were looking at different facilities where he could get moved to more care, as needed, and eventually possibly into memory care, if needed. They were the last place we visited, and by then, we were very knowledgeable of what we were looking for. By the time we got to the last room, they showed the one we ended up taking for him. It was a 1-bedroom apartment with a kitchenette, and with my dad living in his own home, we were grateful because he was going to be moving into a 1-bedroom home that allowed him to bring his belongings. They are absolutely wonderful to work with. They have a gentleman there who helped him hang up his gear mounts and his fish mount and put his table together. They're just very helpful with everything. They offered assistance with everything that we didn't get done, like unpacking, and anything that we had a concern with or we thought might be a problem, like hanging too many pictures on the wall. They made the move extremely easy. They had everything that we were looking for for my dad. He is a hard, difficult man because he is very independent and has done a lot of stuff on his own. He is starting to lose his ability to do things now, and it's very hard for him, but he does like it there, so that's good. So far, we are thrilled with them. My dad loves their food, which is amazing because he was getting meals on wheels, and he would take a couple of bites and throw them in the garbage. Here, they have home-cooked meals, and they might even make their dumplings. They make Sauerkraut, and we are German, so they might even cater a German meal for him. The cooks are just so accommodating and amazing there, so it's really neat. My dad says he actually might not go there for all the meals because he's going to gain weight. That's good, because he was not easy. The staff members are fabulous. Everyone we've talked to is so nice, so friendly, and so helpful. Everything is on one floor, and it is so easy to get around. My dad has his own patio with a patio door. We were able to move everything in and back right up to his door with our vehicles and unload it. He's lived in the country up north with wildlife. Here, he has a patio door looking at the grass in the field, and he can sit outside where it's absolutely beautiful, so it will feel very comfortable to him. When you go inside the facility, there are four different quadrants for each care facility that go around in a circle. Everybody's on one floor, so there are no elevators and no stairs. He has a storage unit just down the hall from his room, if he has extra things to store. Everything is just so convenient, and so clean. It's also a quiet place. It's not like some places we visited, where it was just very loud and noisy, and the environment didn't feel really cozy and homey. This place just felt nice, homey, and comfortable. They were all playing bingo the one time we were in there, and everybody was having fun, so it just seemed like a very nice setup. We were very pleased with everything. They take pictures of the residents and post them on Facebook, which is really fun. I'm looking forward to maybe seeing my dad in the future pictures. It looks like everybody's having a great time. They take them out on trips like shopping to the store to buy personal items, if need be. There's a salon for the hair, and all that. My dad was in the military, and he has all kinds of military books and he didn't want to get rid of them. I talked to them, and they said we can bring them in, and they can put them in their library. They also do an exchange with the actual library in town, and so we're just thrilled that his books will be put to good use because he has some really good ones. They are working with us on that. My dad already said he is making friends, getting out and doing things, which is really good. We are also very satisfied with the price.

I was able to visit the assisted living facility of Colfax Senior Living. The coordinator was very nice, answered all of my questions, and gave me a thorough tour. The facility is very nice and has everything. They have senior apartments, assisted living, and memory care. It was very homey and very clean. I saw the rooms, and they're nice. I didn't see the activities going on, but I did see the craft room full of crafts. It was organized and looked very nice.
