"We went to Bellaire at Stone Port. I liked the elegance and the involvement of the staff with the clientele. My father is a very elegant kind of guy. He likes to have fine art in his house and likes the type of decor that they had there. They also have a lot of stimulating, interesting things to do besides your standard bingo and puzzles. I think he and his wife would enjoy the lectures, the performances from the university departments that come out, the meetings, and the clubs that are available for involvement. Dad's a very social kind of guy, and I think his wife is as well. Both of them would appreciate the environment there more so than the other two we visited. It would suit my father's personality better and his wife's. They have lectures, art appreciation, companionship with the clubs, and things that would stimulate their thoughts and try to keep them sharp. My father and his wife are trying very hard to keep their intellects active through different things instead of just sitting by and watching the world go by. They want to be involved. I like the visual pleasantness of it, the finer art, not just your photographs, but actual artwork hanging on the walls and that kind of thing. I like the size of the apartments, I like the amenities, and I like their layouts a bit more than I like the other two. My father and his wife would prefer to have two bedrooms and a living area, and all that I was able to see were one bedroom and a living area but the way that it was laid out, the way that the showers were incorporated, those I think would be pleasant. They also had much more storage than the other two facilities. The closet spaces were larger and they also offered a microwave in the kitchenettes, whereas nobody else did. If they wanted to heat something in their room, they could. They had a much more varied menu. They had options. The staff had a lot of energy and talked very quickly. If he would slow down his speech, he would be 100% five stars. He was really good, but he just talked so fast. It's new enough to still look very, very clean and they've maintained it well. It's old enough to get any kinks out that might be evident in a new facility. I liked how they kept it."

"My grandparents spent the last 6 years of their lives living in this community. I was absolutely a beautiful place filled with wonderful people (both staff and neighbors). I know it will be quite a while before I am of age to move there but I really love the community and plan to move there. The community is designed for graduated care, meaning that as your level of need is increases, the level of care increases. Also, it is within walking distance of a lovely church and Bridgewater College. Bridgewater Retirement Community is a piece of heaven on earth!! "

"Everything is top dollar at Bridgewater. I liked the proximity to our children. We're very pleased with it. They have everything from early resident care; they have private houses all the way up to hospital care. We're very pleased with the staff. "

"I really enjoyed this nursing home. The staff was just so welcoming when it came to having me there to entertain. They even invited me back again and to bring more friends. I was thinking about volunteering part time here, but got another job that was full time. I would go to the theatre to play for them and they would all come and enjoy it. The people seemed pretty well adjusted and independent even though there were nurses around. As I was walking around I really enjoyed the stunning-ness of the campus. It was beautiful. There were flowers blooming and the trees were blooming and there were people outside enjoying the fresh spring air. When I went to visit my relative there it was amazing. She was living in her own really fancy, a little bit small, but nice apartment. She said they always had people come and check on them and they could always call for help, but other wise your pretty much living on your own. I remember her saying that the care is different for all people. Some are checked on more than others. But overall I was very impressed with the facilities. "

"I was a patient at Oak Lea (2024) and also at a later date this year, my husband required care at Oak Lea. I had back surgery requiring assistance, and my husband had a four-wheeler accident with a broken leg and other injuries that needed to be looked after. He then developed a serious infection that required IVs ever eight hours over the course of six weeks. He feels just as I do that VMRC is the very best (greatest) of all places to be. Private rooms, excellent nursing care, therapy is caring and what can I say except that we had no complaints whatsoever with any area of this facility.
