The staff of Heritage Hall of Grundy, Va was gracious and courteous when my elderly relative (who passed away now)was there. There care of her was great but also always answered our questions of her care with care and concern for her. But they also comfort us when we had concerns of her care. Overall the my rating of them is great the staff was caring and they took excellent care of her. I would recommend them highly to someone else cause my families experience of them was overall great.

The nursing home is clean and taken care of. It is more updated than other facilities that I have seen. The decor is to be expected of a nursing home. The nurses are all very friendly and do their jobs as outlined. There appears to be an adequate supply of daily needs for every patient. However, some of the general practices of the nursing home could use improvement. The facilities do not go above and beyond for their patients. They could be more creative with patients who have bowl movement issues. There isn't much encouragement for family involvement, which would be very beneficial to the people staying there. They have trouble keeping a staff due to low pay with no positive reinforcement from management. There is no outside area for patients to breathe fresh air, or engage in outdoor activities. Some patients are able to sneak in cigarettes, which can bother others in the care of the facility.

My loved one was take care of very well. The staff were kind to my aunt. They were knowledgeable of her condition and sympathetic. They never hesitated to answer any of our questions. There were a few things they could have improved upon, such as the time it took to respond to a call button and pest control. My aunt pushed the call button and it took over 15 minuets for a nurse to come and take her to the restroom. I observed ants while she was there, and her roomates family had said there was a problem with garder snakes at the back door sometimes getting in. The facility was clean and I observed it being cleaned on a regular basis. I would say over all they made what remained of my aunts battle with cancer as comfortable as possiable.
