My parents were both residents, and well taken care of until they passed. However, in order to help the provider, I often paid in advance. When my mother passed unexpectedly in October, I had already paid for November and December. Since I had already paid first and last month when she went in, I asked to be refunded the two extra months I paid in advance after she died. After many requests, I have never received a refund. Just don't pay in advance.
