Magnolias of Santee

I looked at Magnolias of Santee, they have assisted living and memory care. The thing that we were not very excited about was that it was semi-private rooms. And we were thinking that my mom would want her own furniture and bed and that that's not available at that facility. It was just the size of space, it was not what we were probably looking for. She wouldn't have her own dresser, she wouldn't have her own bed, or decorations and that would have been a huge downsize. The people that afternoon were in the activity room in the center of the building. It's a very small facility with maybe 30 residents, and there were like 20 of them in the activity room painting that day. They had a leader and activity director that was helping everyone. They weren't going to let people sit in their room and do nothing, so I was impressed with that. I saw the dining room, it was empty at the time because most of the people were in the activity room. They have outdoor areas and gardens and an area that was enclosed for safety reasons. There are pretty picture windows where people could sit and look out at the garden.

A sibling of mine is now at Magnolias of Santee. When I went there, they were having new carpeting done. It's a very clean facility with friendly people. They were able to answer our questions. It was a very secure facility, and we wanted that. Everything that we wanted was available there. They do have different activities.

Very nice, homey facility. Staff is most friendly and helpful! Only negative I've witnesses is the lack of security at the front door which is a bit disturbing.
