My husband is in Keene Valley. It is very small, very homey, comfortable, and very clean. The staff is very good. They check every single resident once an hour, every hour of the day. The room is very large and private with a private bath and two closets, plus cable TV. It has very large picture windows and a beautiful view. They have eight acres of walkways in the woods. It has very good food. They take care of everything. They have four different community rooms where people can gather together, two activities rooms with different kinds of games and bingo, and a gym. All of the residents are free to walk throughout the area as much as they want to. It is very nice.

First off, my Grandmother is now deceased. She basically was a hermit who lilved in the woods and preferred her own company and my mom is very much like her. When Gram started getting bad, we were afraid that she would go for a walk in the wods, fall and we would never find her but much to our surprise, when we moved her into Neighborhood house, she was forced to be around people as she shared a room. The two women quickly became friends, shared stories, receipes, played cards , puzzles and such. The house is located in a small country vlllage on the Main Drag. The place is lovely inside and out and the residents who are able, can go outside, accompanied, you sign them in and out, and you can walk thru town with them. The meals were very good, but Gram would say, "i'ts not like my cooking", it wasn't but the staff watched the spice. The rooms were medium sized, two to a room but Gram had some of her things and she was comfortable there. They always were having some sort of entertainment. Gram fell one day and hurt her arm and was taken by ambulance to Lake Placid where she was treated and released but after that she just seemed to change and give up. It was not long beiore we had to move her to a full time facility which was OK but it was not the Neighborhood House.
