"I spent a winter at Saranac Village at Will Rogers a year before, and I found it to be an excellent facility. The staff was excellent and the food was surprisingly good. I didn't expect it to be delicious, and it was. The residents were well taken care of. All you had to do was ask at the desk if you needed something, and if another resident was having difficulty, you could go in confidence and say what you have seen and they would help. I had an oddly shaped two-bedroom apartment, which was very interesting, because I could face the East, and by walking through the apartment, I could face the West. It was beautifully cared for and the housekeepers were there once a week. You know when they're coming and you can leave them and go somewhere else and they clean the apartment. The place was very well kept up. They had a salon and the woman who had been my hairdresser before moving there had moved there. So, I had my own hairdresser in the salon. There's no pool, but there's a beautiful deck that you could sit out on, not in January or February, but I went back to visit friends later and set out on the deck with them. It's a lovely place, surrounded by a wooded area with a large parking lot. They also allow pets, so I had my little dog with me too. There was a daily exercise activity, which was very nice, and other activities that you could go to on their bus and they would take you to town. It was just overall excellent."

"Uihlein Mercy Center accomodation were beautiful. But the help is totally incompetent. They have gone downhill when the local hospital took it over. My grandmother was there and I didn't have any choice over her being there. It was sad. They just put out the people and nobody talks to them. They're just left there for hours. They should make their help more competent; no lazy. Some of the residents hadn't even taken care of at lunch time and that's unforgivable. "

"My husband is in Keene Valley. It is very small, very homey, comfortable, and very clean. The staff is very good. They check every single resident once an hour, every hour of the day. The room is very large and private with a private bath and two closets, plus cable TV. It has very large picture windows and a beautiful view. They have eight acres of walkways in the woods. It has very good food. They take care of everything. They have four different community rooms where people can gather together, two activities rooms with different kinds of games and bingo, and a gym. All of the residents are free to walk throughout the area as much as they want to. It is very nice. "

"My husband is at Mercy Living Center, and it's pretty good. It's pretty nice and clean. They have to share rooms there. There are only 60 residents, but right now, I think they're full. It's just that everybody is so short-staffed. That's the problem, but the staff is wonderful. They just need more. It is hard for them to take care of that many residents. They only had two nurses on staff at night. The food is wonderful, and they have all kinds of activities like ice cream socials and music. There's one big room where they can eat all together if they want, but they can also eat in their own rooms. They have physical therapy, too. If they have to go to the hospital for X-rays or something like that, they transport them. It's nice. They do a lot for those residents."
