My mom was at Oak Point of Monett from April 2022 to her passing last month (June 18, 2025). When she could no longer live in her house, my brother and I asked her where she would like to stay, and she wanted a facility in her hometown. When we toured Oak Pointe, she immediately liked it (she already knew several residents), and she chose to stay there. The moving-in process was very smooth and the folks in charge were very friendly and helpful. Looking back across the three-plus years (I spent many days and nights there myself, as Mom had a two-bedroom for most of her stay), I am very satisfied with the care she received there and the condition of the facility. Regarding the latter—I had toured many other facilities when my wife’s mom needed care—it is an amazingly clean and orderly operation. That is very important for reasons I don’t need to go in to. Regarding the former, I found that most of the CNAs and other staff that cared for Mom were wonderfully kind, took a personal interest in her and got to know her, contacted me in the cases when she was struggling, and treated me, my brother, and Mom’s close friends as if we were family to them as well. I have fond memories of several of them and even miss them. Places such as these often suffer from understaffing, and that happened, but—just to take on example—the concierge and activities directors, without being ordered to, often pitched in to keep things running smoothly. The concierge and two activities directors I interacted with were truly professional, enthusiastic, and caring. Together, the CNAs and main staff also facilitated an environment where activities were always available for residents to get to know each other (I miss some of them, as well) and keep their bodies moving and spirits up. Also—you’ll have to forgive me for not knowing the exact title—but the two gentlemen who were in charge of repairs and moving furniture were absolutely stellar, and also extremely friendly, accommodating, and fast. No place is perfect, and my comments that follow should be understood with my rating in mind—I did not expect perfection. Food: again, understaffing could affect food service, but I will write here what I said many times: I cleaned my plate every time I ate with my mom (several times) and found the food very good, especially considering the needs of the residents. Also, special meals for celebratory occasions were planned that I found excellent. It did not expect RESTAURANT-quality food; I expected consistently decent food that suited the residents’ needs, and that was provided. Also, in our current economic environment, I was not surprised to see important personnel come and go (I interacted with four different heads of nursing, for example), and rolled with the punches there. My understanding was that one retired, I know that another (who was terrific) suffered some familial setbacks that made her continued work in Monett impossible, a third did not consistently meet standards and either moved on or WAS moved on, and the current one is terrific. That may not seem five-star, but consider this: the first two situations were beyond the facility’s control, the third was dealt with rather than allowed to drag on, and the person recently hired is excellent. I’m just saying that these changes are REALITY, and the facility (and its overseeing corporate body) dealt with them well. That brings me to a final important point: I advise families of residents to be closely involved and feel no qualms about contacting the concierge, head of nursing, or executive director. Why? Even in the least satisfying times, I always got fast and detailed feedback from whomever I needed information from (I have a HUGE email folder with all my Oak Pointe correspondence, most of it just exchange of health and travel information), and, being three and a half hours away, I always had a sense of what was going on through that communication. The executive body at Oak Pointe also encourages families to be involved and communicate, and creates activities for interaction with the entire staff and your loved one’s fellow residents. Simply put, if we had the choice to make again whether my mom would be provided and cared for well at Oak Pointe, we’d do so again in a second. I genuinely do miss many of the folks there who cared for her (some even attended her funeral), and to me that should speak volumes.

I toured Oak Pointe of Monett. The staff was very good. We tried the food, and it was very good. The facility was very nice, almost new and very clean. They had a microwave and a sink, just like a mini kitchen thing in the room. They have a salon for an extra fee, and they have PT on site. They have basic cable. They do two loads of laundry a week, and they do your house cleaning once a week. They would make your bed daily, they would take care of your medicines, and they would also transport you to a doctor in town if you needed it. They have the pendants on the walls in case you need somebody and couldn't get out of bed or couldn't get out of the bathroom.

My father-in-law will be moving into Oak Pointe of Monett. It's close to our house. They also have a memory care center, and he will need that. It's just a beautiful place. They have taken care of it. They have a studio, one bedroom, and two bedrooms. They have activity areas, a chapel, a music area, and common areas. We even had lunch one day up there, and the food was very good. The staff members were very good, nice, and attentive to everything.

We've visited Oak Pointe of Monett twice. I appreciated the communication that I was getting regarding our visits and things like that from the administrator. She was very attentive and very quick to respond to my request. And then when we got there for the tour, she spent a very large portion of her day and time touring and answering our questions and never made us feel that we needed to rest or anything like that. So there's just a lot of communication and I know there's a family-oriented vibe going at their facility, which would be a great place if I can just convince my mother-in-law. The facility itself is gorgeous. They have a nice coffee bar, and they have a beautiful outside court where they do some gardening and plant herbs. They have all kinds of music groups and church service that comes in several times a week. They also have activities like crafts and games, they take clients out into the community for ice cream and social-type things. They have a beautiful restaurant-style eating area, and the list goes on.

My grandma was at the Oak Pointe of Monett assisted living and then we moved her to their memory care unit about a month ago. It's in the same building, just a different wing, and she seems to be adjusting really well with that. She's been there for about a year and a half now. My mother and father chose it. It was really clean, and the people seemed like they really care a lot about the residents. They have a lot of specific activities that my grandmother likes to do. The food is really good. I have not eaten it myself, but my parents and my aunt have, and my grandma loves it. They've got very nice and caring staff. The layout was really nice. They've got an interior and an exterior courtyard, but what I really liked about the interior one is it's completely enclosed with building around it. They can still get outside and walk around that courtyard, and there's really nice outdoor furniture out there. They're enclosed, so if for some reason one of your family members tended to try to run off, they couldn't get out because the courtyard is inside. There's an opening in the middle of the facility to the outdoors, so there's no way for them to escape. They have different card games, puzzles, arts and crafts, church, Bridge, and they've got somebody that will paint their fingernails for them, and there's a salon inside. They have an on-site doctor if they choose to go to that doctor instead of one from outside the facility. They've got a lot to choose from as far as the different assisted living rooms. They can do a studio, a 1-bedroom, and a 2-bedroom. The dining room is spaced out, and you can sit together if you want or you can sit on your own.

We chose Oak Pointe of Monett for my mother-in-law, and we're really happy with the input we're getting from the administration. They were very supportive and communication is excellent; they couldn't do enough for you. It was wonderful, everybody from the executive director to the maintenance guy. It's a real teamwork in the real sense of the word, and everybody severs everybody. She has her own little room, it has a big closet and a nice-sized private bathroom. The room is carpeted and clean, and if you need your pictures hang or the bird feeder outside the window, they would say that it's no problem. Everything there is taken care of. My husband said that if he needed to go someplace someday, he'd go there. We eat there every day in the dining room. We would bring the dog every evening so she could play with the dog. The staff is very accommodating and went out of their way to do things for you. They also have educational things, the social worker did something like a virtual dementia which was excellent. They also gave us a book and we've been reading that. They've been awesome, and the food is excellent. We've looked at a lot of other places, and among them this one is hands down the best.
