"The Knott County Health and Rehabilitation Center is located in southeastern Kentucky. I go there often to visit residents in the community. Recently, a dear friend of mine, as well as a brother in our church had to be admitted there because of his progressing Alzheimers Disease. I had noticed the decline when I saw him at church regularly. His family kept him home as long as they could, but due to his rapid decline they had no other choice. Even though he doesn't recognize me, I go see him at least once a week because he is such a wonderful man, friend, and brother in our church. He is about twenty years older than I, but from the first time I met him we became friends. He never failed to joke and try to cheer me up if he knew I was feeling down. As for the nursing home he is in, it is the nicest one in south eastern Kentucky. The staff is friendly, it's kept clean, and even though they seem to be understaffed a bit, they do a fantastic job of making sure all the residents are taken care of. In my opinion, my dear friend has the best place to live in these last stages of his life. "

"The Hazard Nursing Home was home to my first cousin for five years. I was very comfortable with the staff because I was always treated with a great amount of respect and hospitality. I have been to these facilities where the staff seemed as though they wanted to be somewhere else; this staff was just the opposite. They were always accommodating to my relative's needs no matter what they were. The room where my cousin stayed was always clean and kept very neat, which is something I always greatly appreciated. Although my cousin was always in a lot of pain, the care in which the staff took with him helped ease him through a lot of tough times. I always felt great when I had to leave because I knew he was being left in good hands, as it was made clear to me that his personal needs were this facility's top priority. "

"The facility is beautiful, so homelike. The hallways and common spaces are furnished with great care. Every hallway and nook seems to have a different carefully chosen piece of gorgeous furniture and delightful artwork. Each resident furnishes their own apartment so it will be as comfortable and attractive as you make it. My father's room backs up to a mountain stream. Cedar Creek is quite and peaceful, yet full of life. The residents here still have a lot of living to do. I lived with my father for the first two weeks he was here to help with his adjustment. Dad is blind and needed a bit more assistance in learning his way around than the average 90 year old. The first day he visited residents came from all over the dining hall to get to know him. The residents here help each other and the staff is humble, kind and competent. An elderly person is so much happier if they can live in the community they are accustomed to. My father has lived in Pikeville since he was in his mid 20's. I'm very proud that the small town of Pikeville has such an excellent facility. "

"My experience with this facility is very positive, there's nothing bad to say about the time I spent there with my Grandmother. She's well taken care of and gets the attention that she needs as far as her medication and assistance is concerned. You can tell that she is well cared for in the hands of the staff. "

"I visited this facility on several occasions over the last year. I have to say it is a top notch facility. It is clean and nicely decorated. It appeared very clean,and there were no unpleasant odors in any of the areas I visited. The residents seemed happy and during the weekends I was there, they had numerous activities planned. I would give them a higher rating, but they seemed to be understaffed when I was there. During mealtimes they seemed to struggle to come up with enough help to feed all the residents who needed assistance. There were some family members there who helped out, otherwise some of the residents would have had to wait to eat until others finished. I think if they added some more help, even just at mealtimes, this could be a top notch facility. I would not hesitate to place one of my family members here. "

"The Riverview Health Care Center is where I most recently visited, as I was along for support with a very good friend of mine. Since I would consider myself to be an experienced person when it comes to dealing with these type of facilities, I always seem to keep an eye out for what is really going on in these places. While I normally have a lot to complain about, this time was much different, as I walked away very impressed with what I saw during my two hour visit to this facility. The staff could not have been more pleasant, as they seemed eager to please my friend's family member with all of his needs, and they were also extremely courteous when she had any type of question for them. The rooms all seemed very clean and well kept, including the bathroom and all of the social gathering areas. Speaking of gathering areas, this facility had a very large area devoted to the patients entertainment, which I thought was very nice. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone, as it is very nice and well operated by true professionals. "
