Bethany Home (Bethany Village)

My sister has already moved into Bethany Home (Bethany Village). We went to see their apartment and walked down to where the nurses station is. We saw that they're redoing evidently or maybe that's just an add on to the building itself. I was very impressed with that. We all were. They have about a thousand room apartments that they'll be living in. It's two bedrooms and has a small living area, a place for a kitchen without a stove, and one bath. It's very, very nice. There is a large patio that is shared by all the people that live in those apartments. We were very surprised at how nice it was. They can eat in their apartment or they can go down to the dining area. We also saw the dining area, but we didn't want to go in and disturb people that were eating. It was around lunchtime. They have a very, very large and very beautiful dining room. We were very impressed and very happy for her. I would recommend it.

My father lives at Bethany Home right now. He used to live in Lindsborg, and he would like to stay in that community. They're a little bit more isolated and don't have quite as much interaction, but there is family around there. He still can drive and get out and about. One of the ladies who works there used to be an employee of my brother, so we're all comfortable that she's working there. He's familiar with that area and it's kind of hard to change a leopard's spots. He lives in the cottages, which is independent living next to the nursing home. They built an assisted living place outside of town. It seemed to be really clean. The rooms had the shower that you could get into easily and a little combination bedroom, living room area and adequate closet space. The cottages are a little bit bigger.

My grandma is at Bethany Home Association. It's a nice facility, and conveniently located to other family members and to her original home. She is recovering from cervical cancer. Then she had a couple of falls and broke her hip. The staff is helpful. Everything has been nice and I'm pleased with it. They moved her to a bigger room and she seems to be happy and content there. It's an older facility and I think if they could maybe do some remodeling.
