"Mom chose Solterra At White Mountains because it felt more like an apartment building and it was homey. There weren't a lot of activities going on in the lobby, and she wanted that kind of quieter atmosphere. Her apartment has everything she needs except for a microwave. It's like a 2-bedroom but the other bedroom doesn't have a closet, so they refer to it as a 1-bedroom with a den. The whole layout is very spacious. The kitchen is big, it has a dining room, and it's 980 square feet. The staff is very, very caring and friendly. They are top-notch. Anything she needs like when there was a leak, they're there within half an hour. When she arrived, they made sure that the residents knew that there was somebody new coming in and they welcomed her. Several residents came up to her and introduced themselves. Everybody went out of their way to be just very welcoming and friendly. Mom did not get their meal plan, but she could always go down to the dining area and order what she wanted, and pay for it. She said the food is very good. One thing I liked about this community is they went to my mom's apartment and invited her to come to Oktoberfest. They had some music, German appetizers, beer or wine, and the staff was all dressed up. They made it very festive. They have a whole lot of activities daily too like bingo, bowling, massages, walking, dancing, outings, casinos, movies, and restaurants. They gave each resident a smartwatch, so they can track wherever they are. If they stay idle in one place for too long, the staff can go check on them. The residents can press it once and it gives them the time, the date, the temperature, and the battery life. If you hold it down for around 3 seconds, that sends a message that you need help. And they didn't charge us extra for that. I have not seen it in any of the other senior places that I looked at."
