My mom was a resident of Pine Shadows Retirement Manor. We had issues with her falling. She was very unhappy there because she needed 24-hour care and they don't offer that. They have someone there at all times. They have so many people and don't have a schedule of when they go in the room. Overnight they only have one person at the facility, and there are several residents there. The staff was very nice. They were very friendly. If it was someone who is not totally dependent on needing so much care, then it would have been a perfect fit. I would have loved for my mom to have been there before she got to the point that she's at now. The residents seemed very happy there too. The majority of them were very nice. They were very helpful and did what they needed to do. The rooms were small, but clean. You can decorate it however you want to make it as comfortable as possible, but they are small. It seems like you can put the necessities in there and they will fit. They offered meals, and it was very good. With Covid, they had to stop so we couldn't really see all that they did or what they offered. They did tell us that they have different things, but we weren't able to see it or experience because of Covid. We were told that they did bingo, and they might paint fingernails for the ones who wanted their fingernails painted, but my mom never did that. With my mom, we ended up in the hospital multiple times while she was there. I'm not happy with the care that my mom received at all. I can see where it could be good if someone was more independent. It was very clean. The activities sounded good, but they weren't able to do any of it because of Covid. They had to eat in their rooms because they couldn't come out.

My husband has moved into Pine Shadows Assisted Living. He had just gone in there yesterday. I chose this one because: (1) it is very close to me as I live in Sylvester; (2) it is not a large place, it's a smaller place; and (3) after meeting with the staff and checking the place out, we like the people there and the way it was run. They get in touch with you. Also they come highly recommended by local people. It is very bright. They have a really nice dining room and TV room. They have a nice outside area to sit in and for visiting. There is a playground for children and grandchildren. I felt comfortable placing him there. They have activities, too.

Pine Shadows Retirement Manor's care for my father is very good. They have a very caring staff. It's a very homey environment. They have a small number of residents. They have been very good. The place is very clean. We are pleased with it. Nobody is going to take care of your parents like you would, but they do a good job.
