"I had visited Avamere (Avamere at Hillsboro) -- not most recently -- but like when I was first moving Mom up here. I like that place also. The one thing I didn’t like was that they charge a flat rate for meals whether you went or not, but that was not the assisted living. I was looking at the independent living there. "

"Holladay Park Plaza was my sister-in-law's second choice. It's an urban environment. They have a parking garage, but the parking is quite limited. She really wanted to go there several years ago and then they didn't do that, and now her situation has changed enough that she just wasn't interested in the urban aspect. Someone who likes more urban type living would really enjoy that. The staff was very personable. We didn't interact with as many staff there, just the marketing person mainly. Interestingly, they didn't have very much air-conditioning going, and it was a hot day, so that was not good, and the marketing person's office was hot. She does not get air-conditioning and I would have to say she is doing five plus work putting up with that condition. I don't know why they don't provide air-conditioning in that room, maybe it's just because it's never been needed before, but it was way too hot to be making a good impression. They have great views though, and they're a little bigger than some of the other places. They have pretty much the same amenities that everyone offers. They have a gym. They have quite a lot of resident participation."

"I decided to move into a retirement community after a varied career with many relocations, including living and working in several different countries. Portland, Oregon was a temporary location upon retirement, while I decided amongst prospective retirement locations. Other cities and states were soon ruled out because they no longer seemed satisfactory for my retirement years. Once I made that decision, I began reviewing various retirement communities. Terwilliger Plaza soon popped to the top of my list. I placed a deposit to get on the wait list and within a few months had an opportunity to select an apartment (many people wait much longer due to apartment availabilities and their personal needs). I moved into my studio apartment in August 2007 and -- as I am fond of telling friends and relatives, have not regretted the decision for a single day since then. (I cannot think of another decision in my entire life that has not been regretted, at least occasionally.) Great place! Great community!"

"I love Mirabella, but it was very expensive. I'd love to go in this facility. Everything about it was fantastic. Their rooms were very good. Their location is also wonderful. "
