"My husband was at The Mayflower for two weeks. He felt very comfortable there. He felt that he got as good care as he had when he was in a rehab facility a year previous. We ended up finding someone to do showers after he left from his experience at The Mayflower, so that was positive. He was in a private room. The facility is pretty old, but they were very accommodating and got him a hospital bed so it was lower for him to get into, and they got him a desk. They had a common area where people often gathered to talk, and a large dining room where they had their meals. He seemed to be OK with the food. The value for money was pretty good. It was very reasonable price-wise."

"After visiting a relative several times at this facility, I can attest that her experience was excellent and that the facility fulfilled its role at the highest level. She was happy with her bed and room, she was able to watch television and see the shows that she loved, and the food was much better than I would have expected from an Assisted Living Facility. The medical care provided by Highland House was top notch, and we always felt as if she was receiving the best care possible in her time of need. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone in need of one, their staff is friendly and their planned events are a joy and have built a nice little community among the residents. "

"My mother-in-law likes Havenwood. She seems to be happy, and I like it. It's only about 21 people that stay there. Her room is nice. They seem to take good care of her. She has got a little bit of dementia, and she was confused when she first went there, but they helped her until she got straight. The food is good, and she seems to like it. I like the fact that she could either have a single room -- which she has -- or she could've gotten a roommate. "

"My grandparents began living at this facility several years ago. They originally bought into the place for the Independent living function when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. My grandmother still lives in the IL section; my grandfather moved to Assisted Living 18 months ago. The care was excellent. They provided activities on a daily basis, like movies, games and sometimes special concerts. They had a dining hall, or you could eat in your room. The nursing staff came around to check on him about once an hour, and they were always friendly and helpful. When his condition declined, he was moved to the Skilled Nursing part of the facility. It was still on the same property, so it was easy for my grandmother to get to. One of the CNA's there was able to take my grandfather off premises so he could be present at my engagement party and wedding. It was so nice to have such competent people working with him in his last days. I will never forget what they did for my family. Also, there is a pool, a beauty salon and a gift shop on the property. That makes it handy for my grandmother to get things done without having to go too far. "

"My parents have been in Stuarts Draft Retirement Community and Christian Homes. They have a two-bedroom apartment in the main complex, and it comes with a kitchen, a dining area, and a little Juliet deck. It's clean, has carpeting, central heating air, and they're very happy in that complex. They're down the hall from the dining area, and then they are just an elevator away from a fitness center, the library, and the game room. The community itself also offers one-bedroom apartments, and they have two or three different sizes. They have a nice variety of floor plan options, in addition to semi-detached houses around the campus. The staff is very polite and very friendly too. They have a hair cutter that comes once a week every Thursday, and in the chapel downstairs there's a place that's partly a library, and there are exercise machines scattered throughout near the chapel. On the top floor, there's another library, with stationary bicycles, and running-type machines. It's kind of a dispersed setup. The foods are a la carte, and separate on their contracts, but my parents are diabetic and they do not offer a special menu for that."
