The Best Assisted Living Communities in Owen County, KY

"Mom actually lived in Dominion Senior Living of Frankfort a year ago. I thought I was going to move her out of there because she had gotten dehydrated but I moved her back, and worked out with the administrator ways to keep her hydrated, and she's been really well. They've been more engaging so I've been very pleased with what they provided, and the pricing is very reasonable too. It's very open, very inviting, and very clean. It's a new facility; it's only been opened about two years, it's got tall ceilings, and it's a Christian organization so they always have scripture, and that kind of thing. I felt at home there. Before Covid, they had stuff every month, either doing things in the facility like painting, and when they could get out, they went to wine tastings, and they went to different things in Kentucky that were of interest to the seniors. They also volunteer at some of the places here. When my mother first moved there, they had collected school supplies, they took them to one of the schools there that needed supplies. At Christmas, they collected personal care items for a facility that needed those. Since covid, they had to be creative. They've done a lot of things in the facility like they did a hot cider tasting test; two of the people working there made the cider, and let the residents test it. They have a talent contest where all the staff participate, and everybody votes. They used to have dinner every month for the families, sometimes an Elvis impersonator would be there."

"We chose Hometown Manor for my mom because it was close to my home and it was a small facility. I liked that it was small and intimate like a small family home, with only 14 residents. The dining room was nice and the food was okay. The staff were very helpful. They helped my mother get dressed, helped with her food, kept her room clean and with just whatever that she needed. I would recommend this place to other people. "

"I visited the Windsor Gardens and it was above excellent. They had so much staff and many activities for the elder people, and lots of food. It was just a great place, the best place I've been to. The units were clean and so very nice, everything was in excellent condition. The staff was so very friendly and kind, they help with everything. I haven't tried their food but it smelled good. The residents had coloring going on when I was there, they were going on little walks, and had staff and nurses with them."

"I really didn't see anything that I did not like about Homeplace at Midway. I loved the grounds, the privacy of it, the interaction with the people, and the outdoor areas for the residents to sit. I also liked that there was no regimented schedule. You can come and go as you want, eat your breakfast whenever you want, order and fix your breakfast the way you want it. So, it's more like home than an institutional place. They also have some exercise machines, a hairdresser that comes in, and a gathering area for church services or other things."

"My mom is currently staying in Masonic Homes of Kentucky. This community is also close to where I live. My mom had her uncle here years ago. She has a lot of respect for the place and how it is run. Another good thing about this facility is that it is not private, so I know when she would run out of money that they would accept Medicaid. This community has all levels of care. We got her in a room with her own private bath. It was a lot smaller than where she was before but that did not matter because she didn't stay in her room as much. She was only there in this private room for about two months. She was in their personal care nursing service at that time but when she needed some more hands-on care even more than personal care, we put her in their long-term care. The staff in this community is great. She is happier now in Masonic. They got a lot of things going on there. They have arts and crafts. They have prom nights and talent shows. She is in a singing group and she is actually in a small group of people with dementia. They get together several times in a week. They're very active. "

"Overall, Cedar Ridge was literally a blessing for my family. We were not able to care for my mother in law and they treated her like family. The facility is in a rural part of Kentucky and everyone there was so friendly and down to earth. She had a stroke in the end and one of her nurses went the same night to visit her in the hospital, on her own time because she cared, that was very touching. Alzheimers disease is so difficult on the family and the nurses were so kind and compassionate on how to deal with new situations or tough times. During our entire time there, we only had a negative experience with one administrator, but it was handles in a timely and professional manner by the director. I would recommend this facility for absolutely anyone. We had numerous options closer to our home, but we chose this one an hour away due to the people and the facility itself. "
