"We're going with this community. The staff was on it. I like the better vibe. There was more happening there, and there was more staff there than in the other place. It's in the town where we live, so that's a big factor. It smelled good. I didn't smell mothballs when I walked in. They seemed professional, including the nurse I talked to. It was really clean and inviting. People were mingling around. It was alive. It had some music playing. It was a great atmosphere. They had a nice patio garden in the back. I didn't go out there, but I live by it; I see it all the time."

"My mom is in assisted living at Leahy Grove. It is a small town and a small place. It's pretty much for older people at least 80 years or older, so it's not a place I am looking to go. I just want a retirement living. It's very, very nice, but not right now, with COVID. They do a lot with residents. It's a small town, so a lot of people that work there know them all, and the meals are very good. They do a lot with the residents, and they keep them busy. They get them out of their apartment. They don't let them just sit in there. My mom was in the college football and college basketball, and they have a community TV where they've got a whole sports thing and they always turn the TV on for her to that channel whenever she wants to watch. They have some cable in their rooms, but not the sports channel, so they had to get out at least into the community living room with the one big TV. They do a lot for them."

"My mother-in-law was a resident there for five months. I informed one of the personnel at the front desk that we were going to be on vacation and for which dates. I get a call on our vacation informing me that they would not be able to keep her there and they had scheduled a doctor's appointment without consulting me first. This happened to be the day after my husband was having a prostrate biopsy in the hospital. Then I was informed she would have to be out by that Friday. Her appointment was Wednesday and out by Friday and they were holding a room at their affiliated nursing home. We returned from vacation late Monday, husband had biopsy on Tuesday and then her appointment on Wednesday. The facility cares nothing for what is going on in your life. We were told that as long as she could go to the bathroom herself, they would take care of her even though she was having memory problems. The minute she needed a little more assistance, they wanted her out. The day I picked her up for her doctor's appointment, 3 staff were in the lunch room just having a great time and when I returned her from the doctor, the staff at the desk was on her phone. It seems to me that if the staff did the job they were being paid to do there should be no problem. They did not even give us a chance to talk to my mother-in-law and explain to her that she could not be bothering the staff for nonemergency issues. Kentucky Ridge gave us no options, no second chance, no nothing. DO NOT PUT YOUR LOVED ONE HERE BECAUSE THE MINUTE THEY BECOME JUST A LITTLE DIFFICULT, THEY ARE OUT THE DOOR. My husband is legally blind and I have been the only driver in our family for a long time. His sister passed away 2 years ago so my husband and I are her only relatives. My husband could very well have prostrate cancer and we are awaiting the results and you would think Kentucky Ridge could take our circumstances into consideration and give us a little more time to make arrangements to move my mother-in-law but they do not care. "We chose Country Meadow Place for my dad because it's closer to us kids, and he needs to have care for his dementia. The other place wasn't equipped for dementia, but Country Meadow Place is. The staff was super. I worked with the manager, and she was wonderful. She was super helpful and nice. The place is pretty new."

"My father stayed at Cornerstone. It's nice, but the apartments were dated. The staff was very friendly. The food was very good, but the dining area was a very long way from the apartments. Housekeeping was very marginal and there were a few activities available. There were some bus trips to the grocery stores and shopping, music therapy, and exercise classes."

"Nora Springs Care Center was very homey, and they've got very efficient but spacious apartments. There was an open kitchen connected to the living area, and a large bedroom with accessible shower. It was very bright and it has its own patio. They offered help with bathing and other things needing assistance. They're very gracious and friendly. They had a community dining room and they had activities that can be done on the assisted living side or on the care center side. They had a van that can take you to your doctors' appointments, and there was a little grassy backyard connected between the assisted living side and the nursing home side."

"I chose Belle Haven because it's close to where I live. They had a nice three-room apartment that had a little kitchen, a big living room, big bedroom, and a nice bathroom with a walk-in bath for handicapped residents. The food on my first week was excellent, the second week was fair, but for the most part, it's fair to good. I like the staff. The pricing is reasonable. It's a nice place."

"My dad is in Maple Manor Village for rehab. They are taking good care of him for the amount of staff that they have. Everybody's shorttaffed these days. All in all, I would say he's getting good care. I'm a little disappointed that they only do physical therapy once a day for about 30 minutes. It's up to him to push this button and have them come in and get him up to walk. It's a typical nursing home; it's sad. They were trying to do remodeling, and then the pandemic hit. At one point a few weeks ago, there were only like 24 residents, and there were three CNAs with one nurse on each shift. It stretches them a little thin too. He doesn't have any complaints about the food. The cook's takes pretty good care of dad. The reason why we want to get him out of there is because as of today, the rates went up. For moderate care, it's over $1000 a month. His rehab is covered by Medicare and his insurance, which is a wonderful thing. If he would be to become a full time resident, it would be 8000 a month. I think the staff try as hard as they can."

"The place is nice and clean, but their office girl, Jessica is rude and says she is helpful, but really isn't. She likes gossip and talking about others. It was hard to be a family member there. If they would screen their employees better, it would be a better place. But the food is good, the people there are nice, the residents are good, clean people. "
