"My Grandmother is a resident at Sunrise and has been since early last year. Though she misses being able to live at home she is content with her living arrangement at Sunrise. They paired her with a room mate that she enjoys sharing her days with. They take good care of her and meet her medical needs. She has a nurse that has been assigned to her and over seeing her medical condition. She enjoys all the themed holiday meals they provide her as she is no longer able to travel outside the facility to join us for family holiday meals. One of her favorite things they provide are the "movie nights" for all the residents. She loves to watch tv and enjoys the community room where they all gather to watch movies together. The cost associated with care at this facility versus having an in home care nurse is comparable. Though she does complain that the cost to her is double that of her former living expenses , which it is at $7000.00 per month. She is receiving far better care than she would have at home. They see to it that she is transported to and from her doctors appointments 45 minutes away in Anchorage which is also a benefit to her in many ways. Previously she had to rely on her caregiver to show up (not always a given) and get her there on time and back home again. Now, she makes it to her scheduled appointments without issue. When we met with the administrator (Paula is her first name) to determine if this was the best facility for Grandma, she was very helpful and took the time to answer all of our questions to help us determine if this was the best "fit" for her and her health, and medical needs. The entire facility is very well maintained, clean, and has a positive atmosphere. Which is consistent with our first impression when we first toured the facility. It has been a little over a year now and the facility has maintained a consistent standard of care for her. I think it was a good choice. Her nurses and care providers are all very cheerful and know us all by name when we come in to visit her now. I have never seen anything that I could report as a "negative." She has had minor issues that were all resolved to her satisfaction, but they were not issues directly related to the staff, at Sunrise. These were all creature comfort requests for things she wanted in her room when she was first settling in and was unhappy until she received them. Which is understandable, she missed her independence and her home. I honestly don't have anything negative to say about Sunrise as an assisted living facility. I have in fact, recommended it to several close friends with aging parents. "

"My mom was in this facility for 2 years and I was comfortable with the care she and the other residents were given. She had been in another assisted living home and ended up in the hospital every other month because she was not receiving her medications correctly. This NEVER happened at Colony Manor Creekside. In the 3 1/2 years in the Colony Manor facilities, she ended up in the hospital once and it did not have anything to do with the care she was given. I highly recommend the Colony Manor Assisted Living Homes! "

"After dad died I wanted to take care of mom so we arranged her stay at Colony Manor in Wasilla Alaska. Ideally it would have been nice if dad was still around to keep mom company but life does not turn out the way we expect sometimes. But Colony Manor is a place where mom can be around people her age. This may be the best alternative. "

"My mother is now living in Keen Eye Assisted Living Inc. I chose them mainly because I feel like the people there can take care of her, and they said those people are like families. She had a nice bedroom that was carpeted, and it has a recliner, a twin bed, and a nightstand. It looks comfortable, I'm just worried that it's a little bit on the chilly side. I told them my mom loves to look at catalogs because we were in a bush area, and then they told me the other day that she likes coloring, so I was glad to hear that. The living room seems to be comfortable, she likes sitting in their recliner. I saw the kitchen, which is kind of an open area, and she wasn't too far from the bathroom. There was so much snow on the first day, they gave us a front-wheel drive vehicle, and we got stuck in the parking lot of the hotel. So we had to wait until the next day to get another vehicle. The upkeep and cleanliness of the community were very nice."

"Chugiak-Eagle River Senior Center was a pretty good-sized facility with about 150 rooms. The seniors all seemed happy. I liked that they allow couples to live together. There were always activities and something going on. I especially liked that the elderly were engaged in the community, they walked around and not just stuck in the rooms. "
