My mom has been in this nursing home for just over a year. The staff have been nice to her but the care is lacking tremendously. I have seen my mom in dirty clothes, and no bedspread on the bed. Her clothes are always missing. They take forever to come back from the laundry if they come back at all. But the number one problem is communication. There is very little. There was an incident with my mom that was not handled satisfactory in my opinion. I can never get any straight answers from any of the staff. Some times they don't seem to know what is going on. They are very under staffed. My mom is not checked for cleanliness. There has got to be a problem internally because too many people have quit.

I would NOT recommend this facility. They are understaffed. Patients are not taken to activities unless they are able to ask to go. Dementia patients are left alone in their rooms far too often with little assistance for daily functions. Regularly found excrement on the floor of the bathroom. Teeth not brushed regularly. If your patient can't ask for what they need, look somewhere else. I give this review two stars only because of the handful of folks there who really care.

Mom has ben at Luverne Health and Rehab for six years. The best thing about this facility is that it is very clean. The rooms are OK, but they need to upgrade a little bit. She still has the exact same stuff in them from the time shhe moved in. Everything is the same, and they haven’t done anything for improvement since she has been there. Our experience has been really good up until 2 years ago. An incident happened where her knee started to swell as she has both of her knees replaced, and they will not give her anything for pain unless she asks for it, but she is not going to remember to ask for it. If they can't see if she is in pain, something is wrong. They are failing at their job as far as I am concerned.
